T6.1 new order delays

I never received a build date, just had a call from the dealer when it was at Emden docks waiting to be shipped.

Given that I've yet to receive a build date, this post gives me hope that mine will turn up unexpectedly.

Although that was almost 13 months to the day I ordered it.
Sure, but I'm 12 months in already, so if I get a call in a month's time to say it's turned-up in Emden docks, I'll be absolutely delighted.

Mine is in production and SHOULD get it around mid/late June which would make it 14 months from order...this next month is going to be the longest month ever!! I'm expecting the ship to sink with my van on it though

Is it sailing via Odessa? ;)

Hi All. 14 months today since order. Never had a build date or any change in status that I have been told about. Just get my monthly email to say no news. Kombi LWB 204 4motion dsg towbar power latching twin sliders. The wait goes on.

I feel your pain buddy - well... twelve fourteenths of it

Sound advice there - some of the pre-reg prices on the forecourt are just NUTS

Check though that you can just sell it on... I've heard of some dealers putting a non-sale clause in until 12 months or so has elapsed...
Only relevant if the seller can provide finance surely?

Id be amazed if that were true or legal. If you’ve paid for the goods, full title passes to the new owner. From that point on you own it and it’s your choice what you do with it.

Unless financed, in which case you don’t yet own it.

Just thinking as I am approaching my “provisional build week” how many people went from having a provisional to confirmed ??

Is this just a myth really and basically it gets built when it gets built .

It ranges from people waiting 14 months to people receiving a phone call telling that there van is at the dealer

If you look carefully, some lucky person who has waited a while is getting their van soon  this was straight off the car carrier early this morning.

I only ever had a provisional build week.

And when i contacted VW chat the week before the provisional build week to ask if it was confirmed yet, they said no.

Imagine my surprise when the dealer emailed me the very next morning with the VIN number, to tell me it had actually already been built and was on the way to Emden.

That was Feb 21, and well before the current issues, but even then, it was very much a lottery and a provisonal date seems to be just that - could be later, could be earlier. Who knows!!! Even VW themselves didnt seem to know what was going on at the factory!!!

I had my 2nd provisional build week given to me in March i think and then 2 weeks later it went to confirmed, but i had also been emailing/calling every 2 weeks asking for updates.

Provisional build weeks are pretty much meaningless currently, as they can (and do) change dramatically. However, I would say getting a provisional build week is a whole lot better than hearing nothing at all - just take it as an indication that VW are assessing the feasibility of considering the possibility of perhaps looking at the prospect of, one day, actually contemplating starting your build... maybe.

Good synopsis Bav… I’ve had a roller coaster of 5 prov build weeks that came and went over the course of the last 14 months.. then just as I was giving up hope it went to confirmed a few weeks back… no news since:sleep:

We collected our Starlight Blue Kombi SWB 150 Automatic T30, on Saturday. Ordered 28th June 2021. Notified of build during last week of April 2022. Built w/b 2nd May 2022. Arrived 26th May 2022 into Ashford Van Centre.

Extra's include: LED headlights front and rear, driver and passenger captain chairs, secondary heating in rear, automatic left and right doors, secondary battery, latching rear door, secondary battery, 80l fuel tank, auto headlights.

Being new to this, finding insurance has been a challenge. In the end we went with A-Plan. We found mainstream companies who would offer insurance for vans with modifications, wouldn't actually insure or replace to modification.

Good luck to everyone still awaiting delivery. Hopeful next steps include VW for exterior work, 8 Ball Camper Conversions in Hull for Day van transformation (Reimo pop roof) and finally, Steelpods in Wessex for rear draw and folding bed unit.
