T6.1 new order delays

My 12 month Anniversary is on the 28th June. Think is at the moment our family is going through the heartbreaking news that my daughters best mate has died on a motorcycle. Only 22 years old. He was a great kid who visited often.
It sure puts thinks into perspective. Not even thinking about the van atm :(
Yup, there are lots of things that are much more important than a sodding van.

Ironically at the last update from the dealer a few weeks ago mine is the same status and build week
Maybe VW are trying to get as many vans down the production lines before their annual holiday closedown which I understand takes place from weeks 31 to 34. Production will therefore resume in week 35 at which time scheduled annual updates/upgrades (2023 model year specification) come into effect. I assume if it doesn’t get built before the end of July 31st, the next earliest production date will be after August 29th which implies delivery in the UK in October.

From a personal perspective, as I’m having a campervan conversion done, I’d rather my build date was was delayed for a couple of months now as I don’t really want it sitting around during the winter as I won’t be able to use it much until next Spring. If that was the case it would also mean it’ll be a 2023 model year and potentially be issued with a 23 registration.

I went through the same thought processes as you, but in relation to a 22 plate... and I still haven't got my van! :think smile bounce:

I’ve just had confirmation mine is at the port waiting shipment. Ordered 1st October 21. SWB 150 Highline Kombi manual with about £5k of extras.

Problem is I no longer need the van, so I have to decide if I cancel it or sell it on immediately. Dealer advised me to buy and then resell…

I will take over the order and take it off your hands price depending . Of course you will make more completing the order and selling on

We ordered the wife a hybrid Range Rover Evoque back in February. Told them her current one goes back on 31st July. New one being delivered 25th July. LED headlights, electric everything. Start the car from your phone etc…
Makes no sense

Who'd have thought that the Indians (Tata) would have a more robust supply chain than the Germans!

Well just been informed my van has now slipped from week 23 to week 48! Nothing special 150bhp 6 speed highline. So hacked off.
That sounds like a factory order reshuffle which was happening a lot last year for some reason, and wouldn’t be at all surprised if you find it comes forward again, which is what seemed to happen then as well. All very random and lacking any obvious logic.

The total experience has been very random so far this is the fourth build week to date. To be honest it mirrors my previous dealings with the VAG group for delays and specification changes on new orders with poor communication. Really has spoilt the experience of getting VW camper. Seriously thinking I'll only buy from stock in future.

Thing is Chris can you wait? I’ve ordered a LWB Sportline last June 28th so expecting delays. Other brands are coming quicker than my VW. Next door to me ordered a Ford Ranger. Built in South Africa, he showed me a personal video only this morning from the sales girl saying it’s due 25th June. Only ordered 2 months ago. My wife’s Range Evoque is coming after 3 months. VW suck but because they are the most desirable they are worth more due to the scene tax and rare as rocking horse dung.
I feel your pain buddy but hang in there bud. If all else fails talk to the VW god @BognorMotors who is shite hot at customer relations xx

Think I'm opposite to everyone on here. I want mine to take as long as possible. I'm in the retail trade and my business has nearly collapsed because of the economy. I'm hoping and praying it picks up but week on week it's getting worst so I'm more than happy in waiting. Sad thing is for me though, I pxed my t6 when I ordered and I really miss my van now.

No consolation to you @Camper_Chris, but this means there will winners as well as losers from the process. I'm not looking to get my van at the expense of anyone else, but I think I'm due a little luck - 13 months and counting since I ordered and not even a sniff of a build date yet!

I just had an update from my campervan converter advising me that there‘s still no change in the status (10) on my LWB 204PS 4Motion Highline PV that was ordered 12 months ago. It seems that the previously advised estimated build date of Week 28 (just 4 weeks away) is extremely unlikely. Because of VW’s August shutdown, I think that realistically the earliest build date will now be early September. Allowing 4 weeks for shipping to the UK and 6 weeks for the conversion, I think the best I can expect for actual delivery of the completed campervan will be early December. Given the original collection date was this March you can probably imagine I’m not exactly a happy bunny. That said, I’m very pleased for those who’ve been luckier than I have and taken delivery of their vans recently.
