T6.1 Rotary light switch

.... Long story short.... my 3 year old T6.1 highline Kombi has just failed its first MOT due to no rear fogs. Completely and utterly baffled as you would expect. Been looking at the issue and even poked my head in the manual. The manual has actually given me a new avenue to go down, in that it say rear fogs come on with the second pull out of the rotary switch. My switch definitely only has a single pull out and only an image of the front fogs.

Could it be as simple as a wrong switch from factory or maybe swapped at converters?

Do other 6.1 owners have dual pullouts for front and rear fogs?

Maybe the one pull out does front and rear?

Van is late 2021.

All help much appreciated as cancelling a trip due to no MOT (although still have time to save it if I an get back to the dealership and get a new switch and MOT signed off).

Do you’ve front fogs

My 2020 definitely has 2 pulls but they only work when the headlights are in the ON position. Doesn't work on AUTO. I have front & rear fogs. Looks like this with the 2 fogs marked.

This is mine. T6. You can’t pull the switch out on auto. Turn it to the headlights symbol far right then first pull is front fogs and second pull is rears.

I have front and rear fogs, but it seems not the switch to use them.

My switch part number is: 5GM941431B

Seems to be a Golf part.

Cheers all so far.

Every image I look at for 10+ Leighton vans (NOT who converted mine) has a front and rear symbol and position as your do.

WTH have I got a single fog switch from a Golf for??

Have you had it from new? If so I'd be asking VW why. If not then previous owner may have had issues and replaced with the wrong part maybe?

Yep, from new, via a converter (will remain nameless at the minute, depending on how they perform going forwards - thus far they have been awful and not answering mails, even though they asked for an email to detail the problem).

So just swapped switch from Wifes Tiguan... guess what, problem gone!!

So either VW built it wrong or the converter messed up and owes me a new switch. They clearly have done some sort of work in there as theres a soldered lead off one of the lighting cables.

That switch is for Auto Headlights with Rear Fogs only. The same part is used in the Golf and the Transporter. It may be that the original van had no front fogs and the converter updated front bumper to include fogs and has wired them to the rear fog switch?

The correct switch for both front and rear fogs has 2 stages of pull out and 2 symbols for the fog lights. Part no: 5GG941431D WZU

Far fetched theory here - The switch has to be removed to pull the plastic panel out. There is a hidden screw in it - maybe the converter was brutal with the old switch and put the wrong one back?

The top switch in my OP is front fogs, not the rear.

Quite likely.

However this being a large name in the game you would think they would know in the first place and want to answer emails about it.
