T6.1 SOS Error: emergency call. Workshop!

The German MB's are bad enough these last 25 years, but the V Class is made is Spain to a different level of shoddiness.

To be fair, there isn't much bout in the mid-sized van market if a reasonable assurance of reliability is high on your shopping list.
Thanks for sharing your experience. What problems did you had on your Vs?

The more recent one...

Turbo went about 500 miles in. Suddenly became really sluggish, but no warning lights or smoke,

Then a massive oil leak from the head gasket. Lord knows how it wasn't leaking coolant.

Then midway on a long journey I went to swap with the missus to give her a break and the drivers seat back adjuster came off in my hand leaving the seat stuck far too upright and forcing the disabled Mrs S to drive the whole journey.

Problems with the screen on the stereo.

All sort of interior trim issues.

Boot badges discoloured.

Drive door was a poor fit and the striker on the door shut wasn't engaging cleanly with the catch mechanism in the door and was just kissing the metal on the door itself so the door would sometimes close with a terrifying bang.

We had it four months, and it spent over half of that with the dealer.

This all happened fairly early in the vehicles life and we were able to persuade the lease company it was not fit for purpose and they took it away. We've had an MG ZS EV these last two years, supposedly terribly made Chinese rubbish, and that has been utterly faultless in comparison (BYD Seal comes in January.)

The earlier one was a Generation 2 model and I don't remember so much about that, although it's hard to forget the clutch bearing exploding a few months in. The dealer, who seem to be blessed with X Ray vision vision and a crystal ball, initially tried to blame the missus but once the box was off the fault was obvious. After that I don't recall it being so bad. We foolishly thought things might have improved with the Generation 3 model and that's why we were daft enough to try another.

One reason I bought T6.1 in version Beach is to have less electronic features that could go faulty. And here I am, getting the SOS Error Emergency Call Workshop error. Checking the price of repair - the amount is ridiculous. f*** Volkswagen. Car hasn't even 40 000km on it, 09/2020. I guess repair and sell. I don't buy newish cars for 60k eur to visit workshops. Mercedes V-class it is, I guess.

The public have fallen hook, line and sinker for technology, which is a dream come true for manufacturers, "you want wind assist sir? that's only an extra £8/month, you'll barely notice it."
Yeah, until it goes wrong.
