T6.1 Test Drive

Hi Guys,

Got my first test drive tomorrow, exciting!
It’s a T6.1 T28 20 plate Startline business pack on 103K up for £16700 inc Vat. Full service history.
I think the upper end of the scale considering mileage. Hoping if it is right I can knock them down a little bit. The bonus being the dealer is only 8 miles from my house, and they offer warranty packages.

What do I need to be looking for tomorrow? Apart the usual noises and window leaks. I don’t think cambelt has been changed but isn’t the advice 140K now?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome cocky9 I got mine in October test drove it check the sat nav works ok and service info goes out on dash. I was advised that the cam belt is only checked every 4000 miles not sure what the total is for a change of belt and I can have an extra warranty after six months for 2 years for about £1100 but that covers 2mots and 2 services
Hope it’s ok Padders

Don't necessarily believe that ALL the checks have been made. Depends on which dealer (search on this forum). Some seem to be diligent, some less.
Ask them if they can do the cambelt. What tyres are on it? That would be another expense on top.
If you have a Carista, ask them if you can plug it in quickly to have a quick looksee at any errors that might come up.
Check for oil leaks.
Definitely check for scratches on windscreen and make sure lights haven't been damaged - look very carefully. Take your time.

2 pairs of eyes are better than 1 pair. If you can take another half with you, I am sure they will notice stuff.
Mine did on a video call while I walked around my one even though there was damage right in front of me - I was bedazzled.

Pay for an AA or RAC inspection. In my experience they're thorough to an anal degree.

Sorry guys been busy. First time I’ve drove a T6.1, I liked how it drove for a van and even for 110hp 5 speed engine it was quicker than I imagined.
The exterior had a few dints, and the wing mirror was taped on which didn’t really show in photos. The interior was in really good condition though. I was tempted after driving it to get it but I thought I would just be making a decision in the moment! Still searching…

If the mirrors are electrically controlled (fold/heated) that will cost ya. Reading through the post though, I don't think Startline has those (problems in the future) features.

If I’m honest the car I’ve got at the moment has all the bells and whistles. Do I actually used?…nope. Also more to go wrong and more expensive when it does!
As long as it’s got AC, and Apple car play I’m happy.
