T6.1 wireless charging retrofit?

This is a bout the best i can do, hopefully you can see the two flexible bulges either side of the internal opening, these contact the phone and hold it in place, i use an iphone 13 pro in a chunky case and its a tight fit

I would say internal depth is 25mm max around the point of the grippers but you can see the taper on the unit so wider at the top and slimmer at the bottom, it wont go all the way in, i assume the grippers will soften a bit over time and may have a bit off 'give' in them but hard to say

Only plus point is the inner piece is the cheapest at just over a tenner so you could always buy just that piece and try it out ??

Pauly
Thanks so much for going out of your way to do this.
Gives me a much better idea..
I will as you say probably just order that bit in anyway to check..

Hey Pauly.
Me again
Could you share where you ordered the dash parts.
My local vw dealers can't find part 13 on there system only part 14..

Not to worry.
They have called and said they found it..
To save any one else having this problem. For anyone else ordering part 13 needs the 82V at the end of it aswell..

Basic parts required from VW
7L2857920 82V £15.63 + vat outer plastic trim
7L2857494 82V £9.81 + vat inner plastic trim
4B0971978B £2.32 + vat connector housing

Wireless pad options from ebay or similar
5NA980611 wireless interface module, seem to average around £50 on ebay
5NA980611A this is an alternative wireless pad without the aerial connector so wireless charging only, no GSM

Before everyone rushes out and orders parts I will add that i ordered a couple modules and connectors when i started this so will have bits left over, i have since ordered a few extra sets of parts from VW and a few more connectors so when im done i will a couple kits for people ready to fit with wiring made up and terminated, these will be at cost price + postage if anyone is interested, these can be charging only or i can do one kit ready for the GSM aerial if anyone wants to try that aspect ?

I will go conservative and say end of the month, this will give me chance to get mine fitted properly and measure up exact length of cables etc so its as plug and play as possible

Nice one matey

Yeah of course, can order more bits if people want them, would rather do them all together before I move onto the next project

Worth noting for those who don’t have the equipment, looks like there will be a little coding required for an OEM retrofit.

Just out of interest is it just a simple coding or would it be quite involved . Is it just to activate it in the system

Depends how its installed, im not sure what coding he is referring too but if it is just for wireless charging and powered direct and an ignition live is used then theres nothing to code

I would guess the radio may need coding to activate the output that triggers the charging pad and/or to interface the aerial booster function

@Pauly , can you tell me how wide the slot is; I have an s10 5g Samsung and it is 80mm wide. It's quite a big phone!

@Pauly what is the part number for the connector contacts please?

There arent any, VW dont sell them anymore, just have a search on ebay for VW crimps and it should bring up the larger JPT crimps and the small square ones required for this plug

Hi pauly, could you please tell me rhe width of the slot, my samsung s10 5g is 81mm wide and hoping it will slot in ok cheers
