T6 - Diesel smell in the cab

It can be reported to DVLA as a safety issue, if enough people fill out the simple form and upload it could trigger a safety recall.

Yes, you'll need the gaskets as well as the replacement pipe, the new egr pipe is a different design.. so you shouldn't have any future issues.

Hi, Guys and Gals,
I have the famous exhaust smell in my Van.
So I felt down behind the EGR and sure enough the elbow pipe was split.
I have done a temporary repair for now.
But I am having problems sourcing a new one.
Part no. 04L 131 521 H V 252.
Can anyone tell me where to get a replacement ?
Cheers,
Pete.

Hi I got a 04L 131 521 BH from ebay.
This fault should be a VW recall !
The new one should last a bit longer !

It probably would be a recall if it was reported correctly, it’s a simple process. If enough people do it.

I got mine sorted under warranty a year or so ago. I can't remember what the fault was but had fumes in cabin occasionally on start up.

Does anybodies else’s t6 17 plate t32 absolutely stink in the cab when doing its regen and can it be cured. Thanks in advance

how many miles?

my 2018 204ps on 50K miles doesnt smell anymore on Regen.

but did do when the EGR exhaust pipe cracked - - was stinking of fumes in cab from engine bay.

a common problem.

i had mine sorted on warranty - is it that?

Hey guys,

Got the fumes problem and symptoms similar to others described. Though mine is with a hissing sound under the car.

I can smell the fumes especially when the AC is OFF.

It's a 2017 DSG 204PS 4Motion Ocean with 42k miles done...

Was the issue already marked as a recall?

Thanks,
Lakis

No recal AFAIK.

Just a revised replacement part.

You can buy from TPS, or dealer and fit yourself.

Or get a local indy to help.

Not to hard to do with a tiny ratchet, just awkward. (That's how the VW silver van guy done mine)

Thanks - will get it sorted myself as seem like an easy job!

To confirm it's a EGR pipe right?

Much appreciated!
