Did you test it with engine running or engine switched off?

Low and high beam voltage is configured by byte 18.
In case of 7E BCM hex value has to be 73 for the LED lights.
But in your case, when 7H BCM is used with T6 LED lights,
it is quite possible that different hex value should be used.
What hex value in byte 18 worked for you?

Both low & high beam are 12V DC.
And when engine is running voltages are as follows.

Low beam is actually produced from the module with 3 LED chips and high beam module consists only 2 LED chips.
And this is the reason why the current consuption is lower on high beam and cable size was reduced accordingly.

In general LEDs are way more efficient than halogen light bulbs and therefore produce much more light with less wattage.

I tested 73 and 61(the original) and both work well...
but if i set byte 22 bit 2 value 0 (like your indication) the high beam flickering with both byte 18 codes

ok! i'll try...

ah, i forgot to tell you that with my original longcode, and original wirecode (without bcm pin 5 to 10 headlight)
i find that t5 original plug, have to pin 10 (drl, have 12V with only drl on, and 5v with position light on)
and pin 4 always 12V. I don't know if is important or not.

now i have in t6 plug, pin 10 to bcm(5 or 6) and pin 12 the original wire of pin 4 of t5 plug(drl +)

...

And by the way, all of the wiring from the halogen setup(either H4 or twin H7) can be reused for the LED lights except for the side lights.
Two new wires have to be run from BCM plug B
PIN5 to LHS lamp PIN10
PIN6 to RHS lamp PIN10
The reason is below.

View attachment 19044

This is the voltage produced by BCM to the LED headlamps on PIN10 when side lights are switched ON.
At the same time 12V DC is supplied to PIN12.

And when DRLs are switched ON both PIN10 & PIN12 receive 12V DC.

If there is only one PIN(either 10 or 12) supplied with 12V DC DRLs/sides will remain OFF. Obviously this should not happen when retrofit was carried out properly.

now i have in t6 plug, pin 10 to bcm plug B (5 for LH and 6 RH) and pin 12 the original wire of pin 4 of t5 plug (drl +)
(like you said)

i wrote to you about my original t5 wire voltage, just for your knowledge ;)

Hi Guys! Really great post!
I would like to ask if all your tips are applicable to T5 2010 equipped with H7? I would like to make a conversion of my T5 to T6 with LED but I am not sure if this headlight may be P&P same as you gents do in yours T6s? Thanks in advance for any help.

yes is possible, i made the same conversion from t5 2012, but i tell to you, is a really hard work! The headlight conversion is only the top of the iceberg!
you have the tailgate or barn door model?

Thanks for quick replay @tommo
I have Multivan with tailgate, but didn't sort out if tailgate will fit directly from T6 into my T5. How was in your case, is it easy to replace tailgate?

That's correct and he also installed electric tailgate;)

I took them about 7 hours to fit the lights and front parking sensors. I got the whole package of lights, self levelling mechanism and headlight washers. The rotary switch has been swapped out for a single one now that just does internal lighting dimmer. All done with factory parts.

Possible to get part numbers to change les drl genuine headlights with levelling?

Thank you in advance

see my works to have a idea...
Frankenstein!

the t6 tailgate fit onto t5...but you must have many parts to correctly fit on t5...
if you need more info, don't hesitate, write me a mp or write on my 3d, and i'll happy to help you.

Hello, I am the owner of the 2010 t5gp, BCM 087, 2 years ago created a kit for reworking headlights gp xenon, and this year made an upgrade to t6 + full led headlights, created a kit for reworking the connector into the connector, without coding the unit and replacing the wiring, Without regular ignition units of led size and head light, some modification of the headlights is necessary, but it is simple and does not require electrician skills. The kit consists of two adapters 10-14, two blocks of burning the dimensions / DRL led, two blocks of burning the head light near / high beam, an adapter for the two headlights (controls the motors in the headlight from the standard "wheel" of halogen headlights, 4 fixed positions). Factory blocks are not needed completely, only turn lamps. The cost of the kit is $ 800. Installed on many blocks 086; 087; 089; 090. On the 086-087 blocks, the BCM is even simpler; to install a kit, they are analog, 089-090 are digital — they may produce an error, but this is also possible.
Here is the corrector adapter for full led headlights, headlight motors and halogen wheel controls.

Try hex 66 in byte 18.

@Robert
last update about my apocalypse :)

finally i solved 99% the problem about led headlight,
the correct code to full working headlight is Byte 18 hex 77,
probably with BCM 7H0 the code is different than 7E0 (as you told in past message)

the last problem i have is a fault code about adaptive light.

Code:

anyone have an idea about the possible causes?

TIA

I've got an odd fault that has just developed and is taxing me to bottom out.

I get a 'bulb out' warning light on the dash when the headlights are switched on or 'auto on' - however there are no bulbs that are flickering or defective.

It doesn't happen with the DRLs only or on side lights (which is DRL plus rear lights on). Then if I switch off, then on again, the bulb warning clears and then triggers again if the headlights are switched on or auto.

I initially thought there was a problem with the motors but I can see them moving now, and went into the range adjustment module on could see the values changing in VCDS, if I move the van.

I do have faults in Module 09, I don't seem to be able to reset these using 'Clear Codes - 05' in VCDS - is there a way to clear them?

Any clues as to where to go looking would be really helpful!
