T6 vs T6.1 wing mirrors

Hi,

A while ago I knocked of my drivers side wing mirror on my t6.1. I replaced it with an aftermarket from eBay but it vibrates when driving making it hard to use.

Looking for a used t6.1 drivers side wing mirror seems like a non starter but there are quite a few t6 wing mirrors available. Are these the same physically?

I know the t6 might not have heated/dab but I can run these cables and the aerial into the unit. Just wondered if they were any different in design before I go for one on eBay.

Not sure which side they’re on, but the T6 mirrors have DAB aerials in, and they’re also heated.

I thought the T6.1’s DAB aerial was in the pod on the roof?

Nope that's the primary LTE only, there is a second backup LTE in a front wing, the third LTE is only used if you have the inductively coupled mobile phone antenna amplifier. DAB is drivers side, FM is both sides.

I don't know if the antennas swap sides for the RHS models in the UK, I suspect they don't.

Yeah dab is in the wing mirrors looks like all the connectors are the same I’m going to go for it! Will report back

Hi, yes it worked for me. All the cables/connectors were the same which was a good sign.

If the aluminium stalk part snapped at the base. You can get that part in amazon for like £7 or something.

It's a bit of a pain to change. But you can do it without taking off the door trim if you cut and then reconnect the aerial.

I've removed passenger door card and mirror to find that the aerial wire that is earthed on the door passes into the bodywork but has been cut. When I opened up the mirror the rest of it isn't there. Mirror has been broken in the past (found the smashed mirror glass under the driver's seat) so I wonder if some had taken it apart and not replaced the aerial.
Any idea what the aerial in the passenger side mirror looks like?

That's a relief. Thank you. I clicked on your link and it's the one I finally found and ordered at 11:45 last night. Fingers crossed this will sort my non existent FM reception.

I'm going to open up and check all connections in the right hand mirror today, and possibly the roof aerial. I'm hoping that sorting these connections will remove the "sos emergency call restricted workshop!" message instead of having to go to VW and pay lots. I've pressed the SOS button and a call went through but I could barely hear the other person due to poor reception. Any more ideas very welcome.

Genuine Volkswagen Transporter T5 Aerial Antenna GPS Module 7E0035540A​

It’s a small module stuck inside the wing mirror with double sided tape. When I lost knocked mine off I cut this wire so I could remove the hanging wing mirror to not damage the paint work.

That module for me caused an SOS error and when i replaced it the error went away. I didn’t cut the one for the dab so not sure if if that also causes the same error. But you’ll need both the dab Ariel and module in your wing mirror for everything to work.

It’s definitely worth taking the mirror casing off to check what is there/missing.

Brilliant. I'll check for that. I don't appear to have navigation as standard; is the GPS module used so the SOS call knows where I am.

I don’t have nav either. I think this module is purely used for the SOS function but not 100%

You haven't also seen a link for the right hand mirror aerial too? Nothing in either of mine.

I didn’t think they were side specific I thought they were reversible. Maybe ring a vw garage and ask if they are different parts?

I got a link from this video, I think it's a different one because the right is (I think) DAB and FM.
