I'm quite happy to follow the rules.

It's the good behaviour bond I object to. M&S, the garden centre or the local cinema don't require one from me and everything is tickedy boo when I visit. Frankly I find it insulting.

I wouldn't dream of trying to dissuade anyone else from going. You all go and have a good time. But being a crochety old git I'm very big on principle, and I'm making my stand on the basis that nothing ever changes if people don't challenge it.

And they do very much give a monkeys, although I'm sure they never admit it. They're a business and exist to make money. Every time they lose business, particularly easy, hassle free business from a fairly affluent 60 year old, it hurts them and their bank manager.

But I'll hold my peace beyond this point as beyond explaining my absence it adds nothing more to thread.

Enjoy!

I've booked to go - paid a deposit, rather than in full - but must admit that I'm against the £50 bond as a matter of principle. The site have experience of our meets and know what the forum is all about, so I find it a bit insulting that they insist on persisting with the policy. Perhaps we should consider other sites for future meets?

I couldn’t have put it any better or differently. I also have no problem following rules, there is a reason for this. As a group we went for several years without this bond. Anyway there will be other weekends to catch up and I hope all that go have a great time.

we are actively looking for alternative option sites and have been for the last two years.

if you know of anywhere suitable please forward the details to @Mick, @Jollyvan , @czmate1999, @BoroBoy, @Dellmassive

i couldn't agree more with all three of you, in fact i felt the same at the time when they bought it out.

the problem is you/we are in the minority.

as most people just agree with it and offer up the bond without question. - you are in the last 5-10% that wont offer it.

the site is still full with all the rest of the people that book so they don't care.

i have raised it multiple times with the management, office staff, owner - they don't care, pay it or don't come.

they don't see it an issue as keep saying its the same as when you book a hotel room.. . . .

sure if it was the other way around and 95% wouldn't agree then they would change it - but that's not the case.

++++++

FYI, some of our members just don't offer it . . and ignore the email requests to pay - but still come to the event.

they have never refused entry to a member that hasn't offered the security bond.

and in fact its more about the fancy glamping lodges as a security deposit for any damage.

and behaviour bond is more about putting off the beer monsters that want a Stella Party weekender.

now they have won awards they have placed themselves a a premium glamping location of calmness and wellbeing.

the thing that i really didn't like was "no loud music at any time & no noise at all after 10pm" - on a campsite !!!!

and weve been asked to keep the tunes, chat, karreeokkee singing under control a few times.

++++++

so lets wrap this up and say:

agree to the bond and come,

dont agree to the bond and come,

dont agree to the bond and done go.

+++++++

if you don't go, there are plenty of more Forum events over the year, so well see you there.

++++++++

and as above we are constantly looking for other venues, to offer some variety - let us know if you know of any.

: Peace Love & Be Awesome to each other :mexican wave:
