Ace, can't wait to get mine. Does anyone run these all year round and had any issue with rust? I'm going to spray inside with a wax to help.
My last set of JBW steels started to rust in the gap between the outer rim and centre?

I'm looking at fitting some all season so I can use all year round. We get some quite severe weather where I live in winter.

You will get an initial few spots of rust water coming out of the recesses, but that doesn't last long. I ran banded 19s for 2 years solid and providing you don't kerb them, they won't rust if you look after them.
The JBW steels and a much lower quality wheel than the banded 16s 17s 18s and 19s which tend to be built with genuine Volkswagen, or Genuine Range Rover wheels in the case of the 19" and these are then powder coated with a much better process than the off the shelf cheaper wheels like the JBW. But even the cheaper steels will last if re-coated.

I run std Amarok steels and the plan is to get them powdercoated when the tyres need replacing. This is a much better coating but it is very hard and can chip.

The only decision is which colour for a reflex startline?

Indium grey?

I've ran mine for 12 months now and like paul says if you look after them they will be fine. I use waxoil spray in the recess and carbon collective platinum wheels ceramic coating everywhere else and have had no issues with rust.
Hmm interesting point, would you say it's necessary to wax oil the recess? I wheel waxed mine which works quite well but didn't know what to do with the recess so just kinda waxed it best I could?

I've never wax oil any of mine.
To be fair, the Amarok 18 does have a much tighter recess than the other banded steels i've owned. The 19s recess was pretty wide in comparison. The last set of Black Amaroks I had, Jamie ran a really neat bead of sealer into that awkward recess which looked lovely and almost looked part of the wheel, but being Silver or Chrome, you cannot get a sealant to match, and yeah i've looked for a Chrome seal.

Likewise with mine from Duchy I have a really neat black silicone in the recess and I’ve had them on nearly a year now and they are still like brand new. Absolute quality build, puts a smile on my face each time I clean the van. The amount of comments I’ve had about the wheels is unreal.

this is interesting, hadn't thought of that (something else i never knew i needed!)
may i ask what wax oil do you use @fezza68 ??
thank you.

I use carplan tetroseal waxoil aerosol spray. I wouldnt say its needed its just something i do.Prevention better than a cure is my motto.

thank you, shall look into that
- and definitely agree re. prevention/cure.

Im not doubting the quality of these, its just we generally have salted roads from Oct through to April and wheels take a right battering in this time. Id love to run them all year but have another set of 18in that I could put winter on and then look after these. Seems bizzare to be thinking of using alloys in winter and keeping the steels for summer use only. :think smile bounce:

Evening gents
Thinking of getting some 19 banded steels for my T6 T32 just wondering on where you get them from?
Much help would be appreciated
Thanks kyle

Banded 19s are built by Duchy Banded steels. You'd need to contact Jamie, but he's on holiday at the moment for a couple of weeks.

They are an awesome wheel, but the wait for these will be pretty long.

Oh and they rarely come up for sale 2nd hand and I'd avoid any you don't know the history of. Been there and it never turns out well.

Loving your wheels @RyanGerry
What colour are your wheels mate.... I can see they’re grey, but are they gun metal grey, anthracite???

Nowt bizarre about that mate, bests for summer, hacks for winter. You've got it right.

Your all going to think I’m nuts.. I was having trouble falling in love with my RR steels! I keep looking at them desperate to love them.. but I just don’t! The black is hard to love on mine! Canteras are going back on after this weekend.

Knew that was coming. In my experience, if you don't love the look of something instantly, you probably won't at all.
Black RRs are very difficult to love, but i think they look awesome.
