Hi @DaveBowden74 have you looked at the website willtheyfit.com? Using their ‘calculator’ if you go from a 255/40/20 to a 235/50/18, you’ll lose about 20mm in diameter, so you’ll increase your arch gap by about 10mm. I’m sure it’ll depend on your choice of tyre manufacturer too.... they’re bound to vary slightly?

Yeh I,m kind of thinking 245 50s all round should be ok, just hope they don’t rub at 70mm drop

I've noticed VW Amarok steels have a small hole drilled in the wheel lip, what is this for? Am I right in thinking some sets don't have this hole as some of the pictures posted don't appear to have this hole? This 'extra' hole doesn't look nice so would like to avoid this.

I’m sure the hole you are referring to is for the tyre valve?

Having studied some more pictures online, it doesn’t appear to be a hole, doh! Actually it appears to be an attempt to hide the start of the number stamped into the lip. I’ve seen this on both silver and black wheels. I can’t tell if this is a physical sticker/paint or if it’s a digital edit. I’m wondering the reason.

A couple of example below.44D4C40E-3890-42B3-B799-04BA2A11920C.jpeg5B73737B-300C-46B1-BE61-478BAD9AEA7C.jpeg

Sorry @Dansporter.... yes you’re right, it’s not a hole, it’s a spot of paint! I’m sure it’s something to do with the tyre fitting and balancing them out.

They are on my standard 17" steels and Cantera alloys. I previously searched online and found this:-

This to line up with the tyre - both wheels and tyres have dot to line up in order to get the best balance

Not sure if its correct ......

Every example I’ve seen the dot is always where the text is stamped. I like the theory it relates to balancing wheels and tyres, but can’t see why the wheel mark would always be where the stamp is. Hmmm
