Team Deep Pearl Black

IMG_8268.jpegIMG_8265.jpegThis is the back of mine with standard lights.

I’ll be going smoke black 3rd brake light and smoke red main rear light units.

Will also go smokes sequential side repeaters.

A question for Pearl Black owners regarding maintaining the bodywork. I currently own a Reflex silver T6 and have just reserved a Pearl Black 6.1 Kombi. Do you find the paintwork easy to maintain or do you find it scratches easily due to the dark colour? The Relex silver has generally been pretty forgiving and hides stone chips quite well.

Black looks amazing when perfectly clean but will show swirls and scratches like a b*******! Mine wasn't particularly well maintained by the previous owner and needs a couple of stages of machine polishing but I've not yet gotten around to booking it in.

Make sure you've got a good selection of quality detailing products.

Black was not my first (or 2nd, or 3rd...) choice but the spec of my van made it a no brainer.

Black is a labour of love.

If it’s in good condition and you wash and Protect it correctly, you will be fine. No doubt it will at some point need a pro paint correction to get it back to new.

Mine is 7000 miles old and already has a few scratches (done by previous owner). I was going to get them seen to, but I can live with them. It cleans up really well.

Maybe in a few years I’ll get it detailed and ceramic coated (although ceramic does protect against scratches).

TBH, if you are used to a silver car, then black really is a different proposition.

I have a black Tesla, you only have to look at it and it scratches, (very poor paint quality). I was hence very nervous about a black Van. But the clear coat on a VW is far superior to the Tesla and will maintain better.

I gave the van a good clean, hand polish and wax last week and it looks amazing.

Thanks dave_b: sounds like I will be busy with the detailing kit.
