The tailgate. It's not so critical on VHF, even less so on UHF,

Opening the Aylesbury repeater GB3VA with ease from my driveway between two houses.

I was was unsure exactly how ground plane works at those frequencies, thank you!

No, as the rules only apply to a "telephony device connected to a public telephone network."

The usual being in proper control rules still apply.

I am unaware of the law in the UK, but in NLD you can hold a mike when the rig is fixed mounted.
