I'm looking at getting the Westfalia detachable tow bar, anyone had any problems or recommend another provider? Also need it fitted so any recommendations on that front would be greatly appreciated.

Either Westphalia or TowTrust. Personally, having had both, I prefer fixed bars, not removeable. But that's purely down to personal preference. I'd certainly opt for proper coded in electrics rather than a cheap aftermarket piggy back relay, that is the road to pain.

I couldn't get hold of the Westfalia last year, so went down the Brink option. I'm more than happy with the result...

Fitted it myself too. Which, if you have trailer prep, is just a plug and play with the electrics!

We also have a Brink detachable, fitted by BMVS, no problems with it.

Bought our westfalia detachable from PF Jones and fitted it myself .
Happy with it , no problems and it needs to be detachable for me cuz i smash my shins on it every damn time .
That and it only gets used for the bike rack I.e. very occasionally and I'm not keen aesthetically on towbars in general .

I have been in with PF Jones apparently Westfalia are having supply issues at the moment so they recommended TowTrust. Ill take a look at the Brink jobbies, thanks for the information.

Yep I remove mine as it’s long enough being a long wheel base.Not that it makes a lot of difference

Yes.
I fit mine for occasional towing but generally leave it off. I'm not keen on the looks (or smashed shins) as mentioned further up.

I used to travel with mine off but T6 does not really provide a safe place to stow loose cannon balls so I bang my shins instead!

We have a Tow Trust detachable towbar, only ever used for a Thule bike rack and a BakRak spare wheel carrier on the longer treks. Highly recommended.

I have the Westfalia and it's fine for my needs. I've used it to tow a 2500 kg horse box on several occasions without issue. It's now retired from more regular use as we bought a dedicated tow vehicle (pick up).
One thing to note with the Westfalia is the need to sort a bumper filler. Panel vans have a plastic crash bar which has to be removed and this leaves a void behind the bumper. Aesthetically, not a problem but the bumper will not be supported from above or provide quite as much impact protection. I believe that the Tow Trust comes with one(?) Additional parts can be purchased to address this or a steel Kombi crash bar can be modified to fit around the tow bar.

Oh, and don't be tempted to fit 7 pin electrics. I did, as having never used a 13 point plug I didn't realise how much nicer the whole experience is!! Hindsight...
