Traction Control - ESC/ASR & HDA switch retrofit

Thanks have watched video, just to confirm hex needs to be 93 ( bit 1001 0011 ) but this makes bit 6, 1 when it should be 0!

I just read all 7 pages, yup, I have the same problem of coming to a gracefull stop on a slippery road with right foot mashed into the floor, teeth clenched and breath being held. Very macho. This latest Van also came without an off button. Reversing back and turning around and hitting the section at full speed in reverse has been a solution so far, however I was thinking of being more cultured of late, plus, now towing a camping trailer is killing that joy. However after 7 pages and 2 hours of head scratching, I am hoping there is a middle ground between page 7 and the occasional time reverse does not work. I was thinking of finding, (the hard part it seems) and removing the ABS fuse for as long as you were in a pickle. Damage report on doing this? My younger mates who don't dress as well as I, say they lie in the mud an unplug a ABS sensor on a wheel when required, but that seems page 0.7 like.

Can I jump in and ask maybe a stupid question but if I go for the tc off button on a 2wd that will work but is the hill decent assist limited to 4mo only?

4 motion has nothing to do with hill descent assist.
This feature is controlled by ABS unit.
The only correlation between HDA and 4 motion is that both are kind of "designed" for off road use.
Please see below the video again.

I have 2 wheel drive and my HDA works like a charm. I actually have tested it few times already and I am 100% happy with its functionality.

Thank you, thats another mod added to the list then. Must sort membership out asap, its well worth it by the looks of it.

Being both a mechanical and electrical DIY numpty, I'm not even sure what language some of the foregoing is written in but am I right in thinking that some brainiac has worked out how to fit the missing (and, in my case, lamented) Traction Control On/Off switch? If so, is the mod available commercially please? I might have missed something significant that's specific to the T6 but I still have trouble believing that this facility was left off the 2WD models in what on the face of it was simply a cost saving exercise (ie. one switch and a bit of coding off the production cost) - I think I've got to go back to the early 1990s for when I last had a car without it!

As yours is 2WD I'm a bit curious what's the status of Electronic Differential Locks now. Below measurement values (ABS controller) from a 4Motion. Just realized that I don't have a map of 2WD to compare. Just thinking that 2WD wouldn't need diff locks at rear :cautious:

Today I finally received all the parts and got TC On/Off and HDA switches fitted/connected and can confirm both functions work perfectly fine! Thank you very much all of you for this thread. Special thanks @Robert for helping me with the wiring diagram.

Codding was done by a local specialist for £20 according to the instruction in this thread.

Well done mister,

Can you tell me where you bought the ABS pins from? Did you get the plugs & switches from Vdub direct or source 2nd hand?

The ABS pins (repair wire) are available on ebay part number 000979025E 5pcs for £6 delivered (still have 2-3pcs I can post them to you free of charge). The switches I order new from Germany (but it works out more or less the same if you buy directly from VW, they quoted me around £22 per switch). The plugs I ordered on ebay (used, with all the wiring attached) part number 4D0971636E or 4D0971636 (some trimming will be required) they came from Poland in a week.

What does this mean? That HDA has no effect on a 2WD?
No, it just means that the EDS function is available on 2WD on the rear wheels, too.
And that is funny, because theese wheels are not driven, so a Difflock makes no sens at all on theese wheels.

Nice work chaps.. bloody brilliant
So for TC button it’s a case of routing 2 wires to the main abs plug (pins 4 and 6) and nabbing a illumination feed? How does the HDA switch get wired in?
