Signal wire to the ABS module is now in pin 9, with the little sealing plug installed. No lights on the dash so far, so my van still has working brakes!
Next I touched the other end of the wire on ignition live (still need to get the actual switch) and SUCCESS!
Many thanks indeed to @mmi for the code discovery, and also @Bundy88 for sharing data. T6.1 hill descent appears to be cracked!
Also huge thanks goes to @Pauly for providing behind the scenes quite a few build sheets with full VCDS data packages. Wouldn't have been possible without all the data as every T6.1 ABS coding is unique
And of course @drinfinity thanks for experimenting.
My switch arrived and after some wrestling with the dash plastics to get to the back to pop the old one out, I could put the new switch in. New wire in position 4 on the connector, and the lights at least work. Need to try it out on a steep hill next to see if it actually does anything!
I’ve just been out and tried it on a steep hill, and it does activate exactly as described in the manual. Indication that it is operating is a slightly brighter glow to the icon in the dash, which you don’t really notice unless you stare at it changing! Brakes kick in to hold at whatever slow pace you were at.
Using a bit of spare time to add more upgrades to the van and finally get round to fitting the ESC and HDC buttons that I've had for quite a while! Got everything pinned and wired as per the wiring diagrams but when trying to get into the ABS Module I keep getting this message come up on VCDS so i cant do the coding. Anyone got any pointers or advice?
You have two choices, you can either type the new coding in manually into the byte box if you know the value you want (thats highlighted with the cursor in your pic above) or you can click LCode2 on the top menu and it will give you full list of blank bits with all the tickboxes available to select

Thanks @Pauly I had tried typing it into the Byte box and amending the value but couldn't get it to work. Tried it one more time and it has done it this time!
