Travelin-Lite DRL Headlights

I'm tempted to fit LED bulbs in mine. Has anyone changed bulbs on these while fitted in the vehicle? Access looks tight!

I fitted the led bulbs after installing the headlight. It’s doable, drivers side is straight forward as the air box can be partially removed to aid access. Passenger side is a real pita.

How did you fix your LED ballast in? Mine came with zip ties to secure them to something or other, but I've just wedged them in a place inside the light where they don't rattle when I give it a good shake.

I did the same really. just secured them inside the light unit and have been fine thus far. I thought of glueing / bonding them in but then it would be a PITA to replace them.

I'm hoping someone has done this upgrade...

I'm not sure how difficult is it or how much of the front grill needs dismantling... and where does it connect to.., do I need to splice into any wiring..?

Any advice appreciated

I did this upgrade only last week. It’s an hours job but it does involve removing the front bumper. The lights are plug and play which means they just use the original pin connectors. Take a look at this for how it’s done.

Hi Jason,

The van in your avatar appears to have factory LED headlights, but your link leads to aftermarket LED DRL headlights.

Are you looking to replace factory full LED headlights with aftermarket LED DRL headlights, or is it the separate DRLs you are after? If it's the separate DRLs then your link is wrong, you should be looking at this.

Thanks Chris, having just watched the video in the link all the way through, yes your right, my mistake in the first post.

I have the factory LED headlights and DRL in the headlamp unit but i like the look of the additional DRL in the grill which is in your link...

The only fitting instructions I can find say 'plug and play' I'm figuring they must be quite easy to install but I'm not sure how or where they connect...? Are they even compatible with the existing oem drl's...

Yes, they should be plug and play. They come with a simple loom that connects into the existing wiring. I only know this because I removed that loom recently when I had my bumper off. I'm assuming the previous owner had the separate DRLs, but they weren't on there when I bought the van. The supplier had removed the DRLs, but left the loom cable tied to the bumper support bar.

Anyone else running these and have feedback? Cheaper than THQ.

"Our T6 DRL Headlights are the only ones available that will work on all Euro 5 & 6 ERROR FREE and when switching to full beam-dipped beam, will stay on, throwing out more light on the road. We have made this possible by using a plug and play harness."

Hi which headlights and where to buy them? campergalss is selling V3's . ????? Vee dub and another company are selling the same ones. i thinking there all basically the same average price £475 but one seller is asking £65 extra for led bulbs. my questions is. would led lamps be a lot better than a H1 & a H7. dont need them both on simultaneously.
any comments please.

Have a read through of this thread which should answer most of your questions. The different suppliers lights are not necessarily the same units as there are more than one manufacturer. There are differing opinions on how effective the LED bulbs are compared to standard halogens. I personally went with the HID option which I’m pretty pleased with.

My van had these grill DRL’s (brought via TPS) fitted...but VW don’t recommend them with factory LED’s as you will have conflict issues..so I’ve had the light put on a separate switch.
