TSi MPG

Depends what type of van it is and what you’re part-exing against, mine is a Feb 17 Westfalia from-new conversion and in a moment of weakness 2 weeks ago when I’d had enough of my stupid locks I enquired about chopping it in for a larger pvc Campervan and was stunned to be offered only £4.5k less than I paid for it and the salesman said he could have got on the phone and found a buyer the same day!

It is a Westfalia, thats one reason why

Same as me mate, two dogs and an extended family who visit often, oh and because it look so damn cool, the high driving position, I could go on.....
I should probably whisper this but we haven’t even done 10k miles in ours; two years old in April...
But when we use it, we REALLY use it! It’s our ticket to the ultimate freedom and best holidays ever.

I am pretty new here. Last night I felt irritation. Then I thought about just walking away. I do my best to be polite and considerate. And I will continue to do so. I like being here.

I’m miffed I did not get one sooner! There are 4 of us, plus dog. Van generally only gets moved at a weekend as I work all week long and it is not required for that. At weekends the sailing happens. Have trashed the inside of several estate cars putting all of the necessary kit in and out of the boot. Don’t get that problem with a van. There is then the added bonus of being able to get 4x8 sheets of plasterboard in the back for the house renovations.
Without a doubt the most versatile vehicle i’ve ever owned. Just because I am not a tradesman or delivery driver, why should my trade dictate what vehicle I drive? Fook me, taking a 13.5 tonne Fire Engine to do the shopping would be a bit of a bugger. Plenty of storage space, but a shocker to parallel park.

Yes different choices will suit different use cases. If I was doing low mileage with short journeys then I would consider the petrol - but there again, if that was my usage I wouldn't looking at a Transporter at all. Mine's not my main vehicle, nor do I use it for work, it's a campervan and does long journeys only. I've done 7000 miles in 6 months averaging a true 35.7mpg and never had a stationary regen or a DPF light so a diesel is the right choice for me. I couldn't handle mid 20s fuel economy, but that's just my usage. Everyone should take the decision that is right for them, whether petrol, diesel, or just get out of the market for a while if residuals concern you. Just don't get badgered by the opinions of those who shout the loudest that their choice of one or the other is the one that everyone should make, they're just trying to get validation to reassure themselves.
That last sentence is bang on. Human nature dictates that we want to think that WE made the right choice and everyone else is wrong. I've said it before....loathed diesels....never had a diesel car. Right now though, for what I do.....diesel is right for me. I just hope people don't freak out over this and allow VW and other manufacturers to take advantage.....because if they can, they bloody well will!

Hello everyone,
Just bought a T6 Multivan 150 TSI a couple of weeks ago. Must say I am really pleased with the car! Coming from a Mini Countryman SD, having three kids and work tools the space and electric doors are amazing. Living in sweden so heater with remote is perfect in winter. The engine and power is good enough for me and I like how quiet it is. The road noise is actually less obvious than in the Countryman. Not heavy loaded and with a gentle foot I can run it at 8.2-8.6L/100km and I think that is great for such a big car. About 23-24 mpg I think...
Had a nice T5 140 TDI a couple of years ago but this one is fits perfect for the current work/family situation.

My dealer emailed me an update 3 days ago.

My van will be build on Build Week 5. That's the week beginning 29th January.... I think.
Dealer expects delivery early March. I ordered on 31st October just before 3% price rise.
So that will be 19 weeks from ordering the van till it is ready for me to collect.

Van ordered: T6 TSI 150 LWB Panel Van Trend Line + some extra options.

Thanks MagnusJ for your report. I have a T6 TSI 150 Panel Van on order. So it's very helpful to hear positive reports about the T6 TSI 150 ps.
I mostly drive with a 'gentle foot' and I don't carry much weight. So I am very confident that I will be well pleased.

Caulkhead.... I have found your well informed real life experience of TSI and strong support for it to be very helpful. The (sometimes very energetic) resistance in this thread confused me for a while. But you and Polzeylad kept things quiet and down to earth and that resolved my confusion. I have learned here that sometimes you have to read between the lines and figure out what a persons needs and expectations are, and what their driving style is like in order to see where some of the criticism and disappointment may be coming from.

Glad I amuse you, two years and 12,000 miles I won’t bore you with why I need one but then, I’m not complaining even after a new engine.
What makes me laugh is people buying these vehicles and covering 50 miles a week and then complaining they don’t work right.
Transporters were never designed to sit around collecting dust and if your mileage is so low, why on earth do you need one...?

Without doubt, ad blu, dpf and egrs are the diesels Achilles heel.
However after 5 years and 55000 miles driving my 2012 I’ve never had any issues with any of the above or anything else engine based.

It’s why the decision to jump into a T6 is so difficult.
Plus factoring in the eye watering price hikes from Volkswagen and the roof corrosion scandal, but that’s a whole other story...

Will hit 2 years next month since i own my 65 plate T6 140TDI DSG highline, now on 44k miles and besides changing a set of tyres and brake pads, no issues whatsoever. I've steered away from the forum the past 7-9 months due to being too busy with work and with the recent holidays i started flicking back through the posts and it makes me feel lucky. I see so many issues with the new euro6 engines..

We run a few on our fleet now. Around town the fuel economy is average at best. On a run, 30MPG is achievable, which in my opinion is decent enough. But the way it drives, the smoothness, power delivery and noise are great, so much so I've just ordered a fully spec’d Mojave Beige one, to run for a while. I was holding out for 4motion, but VW are still insisting that isn’t coming yet......

I have to say we haven’t really seen any major issueswith the EU6 engines, other than the odd man light - But easily rectified. As you are an owner of the 140, you will appreciate the jump up in power, economy and smoothness if you went for a 150. They are a massive improvement over the 140 - even though there is nothing wrong with the 140TDI.

Hi Oli. I don't know if the above is in response to a question I asked you about the T6 TSI 150 panel Van. If it is then I thank you very much for that.

In Parker's review of the T6 TSI 150, they mention an issue with the van shaking / resonating between 1400 rpm and 1500 rpm. Maxdefrost on this forum also mentions a shaking / resonance if you don't drop down to 5th below 60 mph, and 4th below 50 mph. Just wondering if this is something you have experienced, and if you think it is an issue at all. Or if it has been mentioned by any of your hire customers. Sorry for imposing on your time.
