@poffer which engine is it?
I drove a Golf R32 and wasn't impressed at the torque compared to my 170CR tdi Touran
I've driven and owned plenty of R32's, and their biggest issue is low torque and flat power delivery - They just seem breathless, when compared to a 2.0T. Great engines, and make a fantastic noise, but in my personal opinion not best suited to a van. Would love to have a drive. The last VR6 transporter I drove was a T4.
I'll give you a call and have a chat.Should be any day now!! Still no 4motion announced though

I would hope it would be....it's at least a decade newer with 25% more power on tap. Probably not going to see that engine in a T6 (unless you have it tuned yourself) and I have an oldish Subaru to play with if I want performance.I've driven an R32 and the 4 cyl R and the later car is light years ahead in real world performance!

Back to reality - it's not the performance I am after in the T6, just wanting to see if it is worth updating my V6 petrol T5 to a Tsi petrol T6. Just to make it more awkward, I see that our VWUK pricing puts the 204tsi in the (very) expensive vehicle duty band. In fact, it looks like the only Caravelle petrol that slips under the £40k duty price ceiling is a poverty spec 150 manual......ugh!
I don't remember that in the Tsi launch pricing late 2016 - have VWUK change prices lately?
Much cheaper than a diesel , 204 tsi is £240.00 p.a.
I understand that there is another price hike coming soon
Can't be correct what you are saying as I have just signed an order exactly as my statement as above £240.00 p.a........ and where you get you pricing from I haven't got a clue as my order is a fully spec'd up order on a Kombi Highline T6 with most extras included at it doesn't come in at your figure and at an on the road price including VAT.Sorry to disappoint you - but that is not correct. I looked into this yesterday and the vehicle duty cost for any 204tsi Caravelle is £1200 in the first year, then £480 a year for the next 4 years, then £140 p.a year 6 onwards. So, it appears that VW have increased the price by between £2,000 & £3,000 from when I looked in 2016 and this has pushed almost all Caravelles into the £40k "luxury" bracket.
So, I am looking at around £44,000 with NO extras + an additional £2,400 ti the dvla in the 1st 5 years - so I am looking at nearly £47k
I'm out, I will keep the V6..... glad I have that option.
Pete

Someone is pulling your pisser
Kombi is van tax -caravelle is car tax !
Quite a difference once you go over the 40k car bracket....
Interesting comment. I came from an 09 T5 and found the quality of the dash and interior of the T6 absolutely light years ahead both in materials and build tolerances. Never drove a 5.1 though so can't compare that. No surprise that the petrol 150 engine is a dog though, like you say, hopefully the 204 will have the torque to be manageable in everyday use.Have a Petrol T6 150 Caravelle on loan. First impressions aren’t great. Big kick from turbo to get you going, then it seems to die off over 3000rpm.
Mid range power is woeful, not a pleasant drive on motorways compared to the Diesel engine.
Hopefully the 204 is better.
Need to have a look at the torque figures for the current engine range.
Disappointed with the build quality of the interior of the T6. Feels like a cheaper quality plastic compared to T5.1.
Although it looks more car like which is a plus point. But you can definitely see Volkswagen have cut costs on the inside, compared to previous generations
