According to DHL, my TTE450 upgrade is due to be delivered tomorrow. The TTE team seems really capable and helpful. I've been speaking with Simon (based in the UK) as and when needed.

The harder part seems to be finding a one-stop shop to do the installation and tuning. MRC Tuning is not interested in doing this anymore. Too many boost hose failures according to them when I asked. VASworks (where I normally get all engine work done) can do the spanner work but doesn't have the facility to do the custom tuning and dyno work. I've been told I can drive it untuned to get it somewhere where they can create a custom map and dyno it, so that might be an option. Would have preferred to get it all done in one go though.

Any hints/tips or experiences that TTE450 owners can share would be appreciated.

Mine won't have an EGT bung welded on. Have never heard of that before and it would have been too late to ask more questions about it.

I'm considering a sports cat to go with the Milltek cat-back I already have, but would really like to keep the noise somewhat manageable.
I have a 200 cell sports cat on my custom downpipe and I ended up having to put another silencer on it as it was too loud for me.

Rick at Unicorn maybe wortt a shout or R-Tech. What boost hoses are MRC seeing burst? Standard ones?
The person on the phone didn't provide much detail, just that they had generally seen too many failures. When I mentioned this to TTE they suggested a likely fault is with hoses and mating surfaces not being properly prepared and combined with high-quality clamps. I guess any hose isn't great if you don't tighten it sufficiently to the IC or you're unable to get a sufficient hold due to a lack of preparation.

HI,

Funny what MRC says. I'm on OEM Boost hose my TTE450 is at 2.0 Bar of boost tapering to 1.7bar at redline. I did 30.000Km like that no problem.
Maybe those boost hose failure are with Silicone forge kit. I had lot of problem with silicone hose on my Subaru's , Audi RS2... Never again silicon hose.

You have to find a way to remove the hard limit (1.55bar max allowed) in ECU MED17.1 to get to 2 bar. With the torque that MRC claim I can see that they did not remove it.
It's not easy to remove that 1.55 bar hard limit in MED17.1
So look strange to me that you pop off boost hose with 1.55 bar. It's very mild boost. Specialy if you compare to diesel remap engine's.
Pretty sure it's silicone hose.

I would not go for Milltek. I had one I remove directly. Only half of the center box is indeed a silencer. The other half is just a stainless tube not perforated.
Miltek crazy loud with a TTE 450 as the turbine wheel is bigger than OEM turbo it let pass much more noise. OEM turbo with it tiny Turbine work as a silencer.
I went after for a Scorpion 2.75 exhaust with a silencer with inside tube that is perforated on 100% of it length. A REAL silencer.

I'm working on building a silencer at the back as it is still too load for me.

I have DTH 4" to 3" down pipe

On TTE450 Their only one boost hose attached ( like on every turbo) and the part to what it's attached is OEM VW part with very good grooving to block the hose to pop from it. OEM boost hose also have super good clamp system attached .

The perforated silencing part in Milltek box is not even 20cm long ( 8 Inch). This not A SILENCER it's a SCREAMER
Picture I took when I receive my Milltek exhaust

Scorpion Silencing part is full length of the box. That make sense. A real SILENCER

For those who want to fit a Scorpion exhaust to a T6 TSI you just need to buy from Milltek the adaptor from down pipe to resonator. then every thing fit perfect.
