Tyre Pressures 255/45/18

Can someone tell me the correct tyre pressures for maximum load for a T32 with 255 45 18 tyres. My Kombi originally came with 17” wheels so the plate isn’t relevant to the current wheels and tyres. I think this is standard size for a Sportline. It is the first time I have put anything more than about 150kg in the back so never needed fully loaded pressures before

I found this somewhere else on the forum a while back when i changed to that size wheel/ tyre

Hi folks

Did a search and found a few post about this, but with many different answers. I just changed the wheels and tires on my 6.1 to some 255/45Y18. Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 to be exact.

The van is never fully loaded, at most about 200/300kg in the back. I've got them set at 44psi in the front, and 38psi in the back. Does this sound about right?

Cheers

44f and 41r on my Caravelle in accordance with the sticker in the door shut, same size tyres, light load.

Hi just had my alloys refurbished on my t5.1 sportline 255/45/18. But on the invoice the air pressure says 36 is this ok?

Hi …if that 36 psi it’s a little low …see sticker

I run mine at 3 bar ….:)

Just topped mine up Saturday at my mates tyre place.
45psi all round for me. T32

That's what I was thinking a bit low. Just wondered why they only put 36 in them?
Cause they want you to run them too low and wear them out quicker …:laugh::laugh:

ps.. if you paid top notch on tyres make sure your tracking gets done….but not by the same tyre fitters…they might get that wrong too

I wanted to get the optimum pressure in the tyres on my golf. It had the usual sticker with a range depending on load etc. I emailed Michelin (as I had their tyres on it) and asked for their advice based on my usual load and the wheel size. They came back within a few days with a lovely email from their technical dept with specific pressures for front and back. I was well chuffed.

Hi folks.

I have a camper conversion T6.1.

Came with standard 16" wheels but I switched to 18" about six months ago. It's not lowered and on standard suspension too.

New wheels came with Hankook Ventus Prime 2 tyres, 255/45 R18 103H tyres.

I just checked my pressures ahead of a big road trip this weekend. Back two were at 35-36 psi and fronts were around 41-42 psi.

The label on the van (see pic) suggests that those are close to being right for a lightly laden van - but that the front and rear should both be at 48 for fully laden.

Does the conversion count as being fully laden? Or should I be closer to the normal loading pressures?

Have to say that the ride already feels very firm to me at existing pressures, but that's probably just me coming from my old Passat.

Grateful for any informed advice.

That label suggests your base van was either a Caravelle or a Shuttle?

Either way yes camper conversion are (in)famous for being rear heavy to the point that many folks consider suspension changes to get the van to sit level, so I would definitely consider the loaded end of the range.

Thanks for the response. Got some advice from a Facebook T6.1 group too.

Base van was a Kombi.

Just ever me in it as a passenger but consensus does seem be that something like 45psi all round is best. I haven't noticed any uneven tyre wear with the existing pressures. Visually the front does seem like the tyres could do with a bit more pressure than the existing.

I have just put 4 new tyres on my Van and was wondering what people have their tyre pressures at? I got this chart from Kwik Fit but not sure how accurate it is. Does any one else run on 255/45/18?
Hoping for some advice.
