The people who correct mis-fuelling go via the filler cap but they have specialist equipment. You may find that your motor insurance / breakdown insurance covers part of a professional service.
So I opted to have have the tank fully drained by a professional, £168 lighter but I guess the peace of mind is worth it. Interestingly his view was that anything over 10% mix should be a full drainage.
They still went in via the filler cap to drain it but with a steel braided heavy duty hose, they use this as a plastic or standard type hose would not get passed it. The have a pump system built into their van that counts the litres of fuel out the tank as a forecourt pump would in reverse, and they simply stand back until it’s complete. In that cost of £168 they also provide you 10litres of diesel, I then filled to brim again with premium diesel. Due to the low miles (max5) done with the 15% mix, he says there will be no damage done and it could effectively be like a cleansing flush through.
