Urgent help re gas issue

Hi folks. Some urgent advice/ assistance needed. Just arrived in Scotland for a planned week of touring and my gas isn't working. It's a converted camper with a Campingaz bottle set up (for cooker and heater). Van just over a year old and gas certificate was issued at time purchase. All was working fine until my last trip about a month ago when the 907 ran out and I switched to my spare 904.

Just went to boil the kettle and there was no gas. Assumed I had been given a dud bottle or the gas had somehow leaked out (no way would I have used it). Switched to new 907 and I can only get an absolute minimum flame, not even enough to boil a kettle. Hose isn't linked in any way. Vent hole in regulator looks to be clear. There is gas in the cylinder.

Firstly, any ideas re a fix?

Secondly any suggested places I could take it to locally for a quick fix? I'm not far from Aberdeen and could easily go to Inverness.

Help greatly appreciated or this could be a very short trip.

Thanks.

Sounds like your regulator mate, any caravan or camping shops nearby? Take the hose of your regulator and in open space open the regulator to see how much gas comes out if any.

How many rings does your hob have? Check both are doing the same if more than one. Is there a draw or cupboard underneath the job? Have a look if any of the little copper gas pipes are kinked

Good luck

Cheers for the reply. Two rings, both acting the same. If I try to light the second one then first goes out completely, same if I try to turn up to max. The wee copper pipes underneath all look good. Definitely a gas flow issue. Regulator new with the van but I suppose it could be faulty.

Some regulators have a trip that cuts off the flow of gas if it exceeds a given amount. This is a safety device incase a hose bursts. It often trips when changing gas bottles as the pressure is released when disconnecting the regulator from the bottle. There may be a small button on the regulator that needs pressing in to reset it.

Sticky regulator?.

I would start by completely removing the gas bottle out the van.

Give it a good shake to make sure that there's actually liquid in it.

Give the regulator a good tap and shake.

Then re-assemble Johnny 5 and give it another test.
