Hi All there is scam doing the rounds if you are selling a vehicle

If you are selling a van or a car a potential buyer will contact you to say they want to see the van do the usual chat to get you engaged and push to say they are very interested asking all the right questions ask for you address and will say they are on there way then they send you a link and ask you to perform a vehicle check!

The vehicle site looks almost legitimate but it isn't I work in Cyber security and did a bit of digging and its a fake site

The alarm bells should also ring as its the buyer asking for the seller to do the vehicle check and verify it all legitimate. The scammer will continue to push you to do the check as its only a small about (I think it was £25) and said they would pay the full price for the van and be there in an hour

Once I went back to the scammer that it should them who should do the vehicle check as I could be a scammer :) As expected the conversation went dead and theydidn't arrive to see the van.

The site link they sent was checkvehicles.co.uk which may change as its currently down as I I reported it to the NCSC take down service as its a scam site and its also been reported on trust pilot as a scam site as well see link below

Checkvehicles is rated "Bad" with 1.3 / 5 on Trustpilot

Thanks for this.

I’m trying to sell my car on Marketplace and have literally just had two people asking me questions, then both asked me to do a report using ProVehicleCheck.

They said they would refund me the price and were also happy to pay asking price. So many scammers out there and 100% would avoid places like Marketplace!
