Victron (#TeamBlue) Advanced Systems + VRM - How We Done It -

Hello! thank you for sharing this, I have put it to good use.
One question I have is about the “quiet hours” feature. I am quite possibly being thick but I can’t follow the inverse logic of the “normally closed” operation of this feature. What would the quiet hours setting need to be to achieve what you suggest in your post?
The quiet hours feature isn't relevant unless you want to set a different cut off threshold during the day/night.
My settings are:
Quiet hours off:
IMG_1491.png

With "Quiet hours" set to "off", the settings for "Quiet hours" are ignored by the system. Only the Start & Stop settings are used by the system.

The selection of "normally closed" windows ll depend on the wiring ports used on the Cerbo.

Cheers for the response. My question more specifically is how can the “quiet hours” be configured when the “generator stopped” status is the setting for the (NC) relay to activate the water heater?

i.e. “quiet hours” stops (or limits) generator start up, but generator running is the NC “relay open” (heater off) setting.

My brain is scrambled trying to figure this out.

I tried setting the “quiet hours” to be 0700hrs-15:00hrs (to allow afternoon solar input to recharge the battery), but this didn’t appear to have the desired effect.

Have you turned on Auto Start function in the Generator Start/Stop settings of the Remote Console?

Yes Auto Start is on, but isn’t that related to the SOC “condition”? I’ll keep fiddling about with the “quiet hours” settings to see if I can make it work.

Like I said I’m struggling with the inverse logic (generator stop means heater is on and vice versa).

Quiet hours simply allows a second set of parameters to be set.
So for example
You could set the threshold to a lower level of SOC, before disconnecting the load during the "quiet period". (The times of the quiet period are input once the option is enabled.)

Yes Auto Start is on, but isn’t that related to the SOC “condition”?
Yes. That is what you are wanting to achieve isn't it? You want to disconnect a load at a given threshold and reconnect at a higher threshold. This can be SOC or Battery Voltage for what we want to achieve. Although SOC will work better for Lithium due to flat charge curve.

"Auto-start" function needs to be enabled to allow the conditions in the "Generator Start/Stop - Conditions" to trigger the relay. Likewise, "Quiet Hours" function needs to be enabled in the "Generator Start/Stop - Conditions" for the Quiet hours condition ti trigger the relay.

Ref the inverse logic - Remember that when the Genset is On, the batteries charge. All you are doing is using the trigger to turn off a load to prevent it from overtaking the charge being delivered via Solar/DC-DC charging devices.

So, if "Genset on" then the load driven by the relay is off.

Cerbo GX WiFi - had my first drive to work today and when I got back my Cerbo GX - connected to my home WiFi the last few days - didn't want to connect to any WiFi. Just gave an error. I turned off the WiFi hotspot and it then it let me manually connect a few minutes later.

Maybe something to do with the heat? It has been very hot in the van the last couple of days.

Can the Cerbo GX prioritise WiFi connections? IE if I have a 4g hotspot in the van but it's parked up outside my house with access to my home WiFi, can I get it to prioritise my home WiFi signal over the 4g WiFi signal in order to save data?

Did you get any further with this Paul?
My Cerbo connects beautifully with my home WiFi when the van is parked on the drive and I can access the data from anywhere.
When using my Tenda router with a smarty sim and connected via an ethernet cable my Cerbo doesn't always bring up access to the Tenda. When it does it just displays 'Failure' after I've entered the passkey. Good 4g showing on the router, can't understand it. Most upsetting!

Sussed it. A glorified switch off, reset and back on again.
Pulled into the car park at work, a regen starts! Off for a 6 mile drive, park up.
Into work, log in to vrm to find everything working happily!
Suddenly happy, I can now cable tidy all the wiring and rebuild the wardrobe.
Work really gets in the way doesn't it!

Yeah I don't use any WiFi on the Cerbo, its notoriously bad - I just use the ethernet connection on the van router. The vrm connection literally uses a few GB a month at the very, very most (my average usage when not using the van is about 400MB a month!).

If you haven't already, I'd suggest checking the option to reboot if no connection to VRM (mines set to 10 minutes), a few times before this was set it'd lose connection and a reboot sorts it 99.9% of the time. This just does that automatically!

Sorted! Thanks mate. Let me know when you need a piano or guitar for your travels!

I use my cerbo on both Wi-Fi networks with no issues at all

Firstly when at home the cerbo will connect to the house WiFi.

Then when I'm out and about the Cerbo o will connect to the vans own Wi-Fi, which is a Huawei USB 4G dongle stick thing with a smarty SIM card inside and connects to the four or the 4G network.

Just set this up I needed to connect directly to the servo itself via remote console. Yes I know it's notoriously slow etc etc but just persevere with it.

Go to the network and Wi-Fi section and you can add the toe separate Wi-Fi networks that it will connect too.

I'll add picks below when I can.

Thanks for the heads up @Dellmassive , just updated Cerbo and XS from work! Clever stuff!

Got some pics now...

The ticks show the wifi networks that the Cerbo has a login for.(You need to select each in tern, then add username and password to connect... Then chose a different one when in range.,)

I've got it connected to three networks, for full coverage.

Works great for me... Same on both vans, the Cerbo and the cerbo-s

The solar shed is running Rpi, Venus so slightly different.

that reminds me. . .

I've got these microSD cards to fit in the Cerbos. . . . next time i have access to them.

I've done a write un on the VRM + ROAMER battery integration . . .

CAN cable from battery to CERBO - job done, no shunt needed.

I thought it was about time i added the other RUUVI temp sensors, to the Cerbo GX-S in the Bus,

now one stuck to the LB,

one for Outside temp

one for Inside Temp.

its super easy to add devices now with the New GUI, . . . .

I made my own WIDGET for LB + SB voltage,

basically on the BUS I'm using the ROAMER GEN4 battery. . . which connects direct to the CERBO,

that means i could remove the shunt to make a simpler, cleaner install,

but that ment i lost the SB/LB monitoring the SMART SHUNT gave me.

and on the VAN, im using a SMART SHUNBT . . But, i have the Victron TEMP sensor fitted - which means i cant have the SB battery voltage monitor.

so i realised that both vans have a ORION XS, which has . .

Input Voltage - ie Starter battery

and

Output Voltage.

so making a widget for these two parameters gets me this. . .

I've got the AMT12-2 set to 12.3v for the start battery charge voltage,

1740211219428.png

....

Finally decided which way to go with the 240v side in the Bus.

Yep - Im going Team Blue.

no the next problem is - where to fit in?

12v side needs to be as short as possible, and battery is installed under the drivers seat.

and i think its too big to fit inder the passenger seat (without making a box around it)
