VW All in plan .. again

Mine is up in a few months. I’m definitely waiting this time for a deal. I’m not sure about the age though, it’s had 3 year warranty then 2 year all in so I’m wondering if there is a cut off as there is an age limit but not sure if this is to start the cover or age at the end of the cover

All-in from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles

We have taken away the need to plan ahead for the main future servicing and repair costs, by creating one simple care package that you can spread across 24 monthly payments. All-in1 from Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles provides great value and significant savings overall, compared to pay as you go pricing. On average, drivers who go All-in save £1,210.70 over two years2. All-in has been designed specifically for vehicles aged three to six years, with an engine of 2.0L or less and under 100,000 miles at the point of activation.

Nice one

So you are planning to go again too then?

Yep.

Although I think I need to check the dates, mine might be ending while I am in the Hebrides.

At least they don't require the van check anymore!

Yeah, mine renews in June so I wanted cover over the summer busy period and went for it without a discount last time when I could have waited a month and got it for a tenner less each month. Then to rub salt in the wound they send a statement each month reminding me. I am committed to waiting this time and getting it with a discount. Finger crossed this won’t backfire!

Question…

My van was registered in June 2019 so almost 5 years old.

My current All-in runs to December 2024 - at the point of expiry that will make my van approx 5.5 years old - so still eligible according to the ‘upto 6 years old’ stated on website.

So, does that mean I will only get 6 months of a new All-in or does it mean the full 24 months which will be until my van is 7.5 years old?

Mine was registered in April 2018 so is just over 6 years old, I took out the All-in in September last year when it was 5 years and 5 months old, and my warranty etc ends in September 2025, so the full 2 years, at which point it'll be about 7.5 years old too.

My plan expired a few days ago and I have had issues trying to renew as the plan is still 'live' as I never claimed for the MOTs (They shut my local VW dealer down and the next one is a 40 minute drive away so for the sake of a £40 MOT locally vs an afternoon off work it wasn't worth it.)

I've just got off the phone to VW finance to terminate the plan so I can renew and the nice chap has offered to refund me £110 for the two MOTs I never claimed for!

that's interesting. I am in the same boat couldn't use mine as the dealer couldn't fit me in for 6 weeks

happier paying £35 to my local tame garage tbf anyway. Sounds like if I want to renew then I will need to close current policy and sack off un-spent MOT's

I’m guessing that guy has been taken away by the vw suits for re-education

That’s interesting though it would be much better to great if they could guarantee getting the money back and have it done down the road. Much closer and much quicker!

What’s the latest updates on the cost of the all in, and historically when have the deals been busted out?

FYI I did an online chat with VW & they told me these are the countries covers under the Euro assistance cover…
“The list of countries for European Roadside Assistance are below. Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Norway, Netherlands, Italy, Ireland, Germany, France, Denmark, Croatia, Belgium, Austria.”

So, don't break down in Luxembourg! Or Andorra!

I’ve heard stories of people having ski accidents off piste then dragging themselves on piste as the resort will then rescue you. Ski patrol turn a blind eye to the trail of blood etc from the off piste area.
I guess drag the van over the border if you do breakdown in the ‘wrong’ country :)

So, just make sure you break down at the top of a hill facing towards the border... :p

Hmm, I'm highly sceptical that they are allowed to exclude EU member states.

Ok, all services and mots now used up and just a few weeks warranty/roadside assistance left.

So to renew or not renew? I haven’t ever needed to use the roadside assistance (yet) and only needed one thing done on warranty but I’m thinking that the older it gets the more useful these things will be so will go again for another 2 years. This time though I will try and wait for a deal. Hopefully the next one will be along shortly!

Interestingly, when I got my mot done today in MK there were spaces outside instead of the standard vans everywhere and when I asked why the change I was told they had stopped accepting breakdowns being brought in!

I think it works out as you getting the warranty for free so it's definitely worth it IMO. And you only need one big ticket warranty claim of a few hundred to be quids in!
