VW Dealer discount/Contribution

Ordered April. Provisional build date August now November. A bit miffed with VW but just have to suck it up,and they know that.

I managed 15.4% which got within £500 of a broker quote i'd received, i chose to go with the VW main dealer though as i've used them for 5 years and they are a decent bunch. That discount was the max they could get me though, apparently pulling in every discount available on a sale to achieve it.
I've just paid 29k +Vat OTR for a T32 Highline 204 DSG Van with 5k of extras.

The broker who quoted me was Happy New Van, it was useful as leverage in the deal.
Which be dealer gave the 15.4%?, I'm just about to order a new 204 Dsg

I had a conversation with a friend who makes a living out of VW vans. He had the sales manager at our local VW commercial dealer moaning at him over mine and another sale, who went across the humber to another vw dealer on his recommendation.
I was trying to spend just north of £50k after discounts etc to a fully loaded Vel Exec 204 4 motion loaded with extras
I had loads of questions regarding the van relating predominately to what the hell the brochure was on about and all the contradictions.
He knew he could not answer the questions, and he new when he asked VW(UK) brand Support they would not have a clue, and would just guess or lie.
So he never gave me a price, even though I went into the showroom 4 times personally.
My friend, recommended another dealer who phoned me within 5 minutes, invited me in gave me a price, tried to answer my questions albeit with caveats, concerned that there could be discrepancies, because VW(UK) may get it wrong. He was always professional and never ever rubbished VW(UK).
The first dealer was pi22ed, but said it was far better not to make a sale, than make a sale, have me pi22ed off when the van arrived, not as promised; and when VW customer satisfaction phoned 2 days after the van was delivered; me not give a 100ish% response.
I gave the dealer I bought it from, 100% satisfaction, yes be wasn't 100% correct, but he tried and the failures related solely to VW(UK).

Apparently for a dealer not to get a high score from the VW(UK) customer satisfaction survey costs them very dear in all sorts of ways.

There moral of the storey; when you place deal, to get the best deal, try to communicate to the dealer, that you are grateful for their efforts in an imperfect world and when asked, you will say that you are very very pleased with your dealer.

Work all that out it you can :):D:eek::cry::rofl::unsure:

Ordered 2nd Feb ,hopefully delivery end of the month .
how's it going with your delivery date. has it all gone trhough smoothly? I'm about to place the order with them and just wanted to make sure there were no problems.

It wasn't built week 35 like it should have been ,was told it was in build process week36 and there would be a chassis number on the system by Monday just gone ,but I am away at the mo so i am waiting for an email ..
But some people now are getting vans through in 12 weeks .The factory has now got a night shift so production might speed up .
Are you using west Yorkshire van centre.?

Sorry i just reread the thread and realised you didn't order from Happy Van but from the dealer. Sorry about that but i thought you used teh broker and i was asking if it went through smoothly as I'm thinking of going that route too

@chriscroft my sale's man keeps going on about "extremely satisfied" ,usually when I am moning about delays.
There should be some questions to answer about vwcv them selves not just about the dealer .

In my experience nearly all the frustrations and inefficiencies in the pre-delivery system comes from either VW(UK) Brand Support, or Group, and how the hole system has been designed. The dealers just try to placate you, and smooth the way the best they can; although there are some sh1t dealers also that just compound the problems. The questionnaires doesn't ask about that bit, because it's like Turkeys looking forward to xmas.
It is just too easy for VW to keep their commercial production lines very busy, so the system is designed to suit vw and not their customer. If you want a premium van, it is VW or go home (imo). If you want a premium estate car; well there is 1vw, 2audis; 2bmw's; 2mercs; 1jag; 1volvo etc etc. lots of choice. You see it in the extras, compare the cost of led headlights in a T6 compared to say a Passat. they have us by the gonads; A hugh difference in price. But still, what a van, and worth the wait:somersault:

I'm using happy new van, they are just up the road from me. Very helpful and I have no complaints so far.
@Dino I've ordered through Happy New Vans although slightly nervous that my van will be pre registered and I'll be the second owner. Can you confirm whether they registered it to you or the dealer? Also did they take payment 2days before delivery? Really hope you can help. Thanks

when did you order through happy new van I've been thinking about using them but they seem very cheap so wasnt sure if to go ahead with them over a main dealer?

If you are going to a main dealer shoot for 10% minimum, some people have made 12% but it depends on sales targets etc
You may be in a good position as approaching end of Q4 ?
Liverpool van centre are pretty consistently cheap and buy in lots of stock and will do deals if they need to move stuff off the forecourt but its a fair way from you, could also try Carrs @ Exeter bit closer to home and they are normally pretty open about what discounts they will offer straight off the bat

Give them a call and tell them about your concerns.

Hi @Dino spoke to the owner tonight so he confirmed that I'll be the registered owner. Just need to get my head around releasing £30k of my hard earned cash 48 hours before receiving the van but he's not prepared move on that. It appears a strange business model to me and a leap of faith

@josh they ve been fine so far and I did get a good deal but their business model appears different to what I expected. I end up paying them for the van rather than the dealer and have to send funds 48hours before getting the van. When I've researched the company no real alarm bells ring but can't quite understand why it works this way. Need to decide whether I'm happy enough to release cash before getting the van which I am nervous about

Got about 18% but that's on a van that was a cancelled order that matched my spec and dealer hadVW support to do it my dealer was offering 11% on a velle
