Im looking at getting a set of these wheels. Does anyone know if they suffer from the same problems that the vw sportline wheels have with the dreaded worm corroding the finish

Had mine two years used both winters. Seem fine still.
I think the problem comes from kerb scuffs that are left, salt works it way under and attacks the alloy.
Keeping em clean helps as well.

I've got the sportline at the moment and can honestly say I have never touched a kerb or bit of rough in the 2 years of ownership. they started corroding after bout 4 months but VW said it was wear and tear!!! Will use the sportline for winter and the Palmerston for summer.

They are a nice wheel Palmerston.
Shame about the sport lines. I’ve seen the worm issue before. Unsure if it’s salt though to blame 100%
I don’t think those dodgy car washes with the acid helps either.

Hi
Anyone know where would be the cheapest place to buy a new set of 18” Palmerston alloys ?? Alternatively would consider a good secondhand set.
Cheers
Rowland

I have the above alloys on a 2018 Caravelle, two have slight scuffs. Not deep gouges but it’s there, no damage to the rim just some scuffs.
I’m going to be selling them as I have something else I. See to go on.

My question is, do I sell at a loss / even as I don’t need to fork out for replacements or stump up the money and ask top dollar for. Rely re curbed wheels.

Also where would I take these specialist alloys as they are diamond turned and lacquered ?

Thanks

I’d just check out the going rate on ebay and sell for a little bit less if slightly marked. Proper refurb of diamond cut wheels is expensive. I wouldn’t have them on my vehicle and if I liked the wheel design I would get fully powdercoated anyway!

Its simply down to cost (and hassle) of refurb Vs value as is. I’d go for less value and minimum effort!
