Wanted Devonport 17 Inch Alloys

Do the wheels you bought (or are buying) have TPMS valves fitted? If not you'll need a set of TPMS valves fitted on your new wheels. Once fitted just drive for a short distance and TPMS receiver should pick up the valves and display the pressures.
Cheers - ‘yes’ they’re brand new off a 2020 van taken straight off - delivery miles only.

Hi - I’ve found a nice set and am about to buy. Just one thing - TPMS - will the new wheels recognize my van or will the warning light come on? Cheers, Mike

@AK06FR I think you’re referring to direct TPMS as opposed to the more common ‘indirect TPMS’. Most wheels and vans run the latter, and as such most wheels come without the special valves.
I haven’t seen @Mike1969 mention here that he has direct TPMS so can only assume he has indirect. Which means the system relies on the ABS modules - and not valves - to monitor the tyre pressures. In that instance, any wheels will work with indirect TPMS.

There’s a thread on here regarding retrofitting direct TPMS which explains more.

@Ads_Essex - Hi... sorry to hijack the thread... I didn’t spec my 6.1 Highline from the factory, how can I tell if it’s got direct or indirect TPMS? Hunting for new wheels so hoping I don’t need to worry about valves. As far as I can see the van only tells me That pressures are ok, not what they are so assuming indirect?? Thoughts? Cheers!

Yes, same as mine - indirect. Cheers, Mike

Thanks @Mike1969 no new valves needed then.
Correct - I fitted Devonports, set the tyre pressures, re-set the TPMS and no problems since. You’re correct, the indirect TPMS just displays if there is a pressure drop - it doesn’t tell you the actual pressures of each tyre like the system I had in a BMW recently - mind you that was the only good thing about that car

I have 4 with old (illegal) tyres, but not the centre caps nor wheel nuts.
They have been painted and are all scuffed in various places so would need a full refurb.
I can get them to Nottingham 4th May or Leicester 10th May and you can have them for free. City centre collection only.

Fully understand if this is not suitable to you.
Honestly, I think it would work out cheaper to buy a new (unwanted) set off here or eBay then refurb mine and put tyres on.

Recently put new alloys on and have a set of Devonports plus spare for sale If interested , Manchester- Tyres have done 4K.

I really appreciate the offer, but I agree about the cost

Sorry to go a bit off topic. But if your say "with 4 illegal tyres" I am guessing at some pint you were running the van on 4 illegal tyres. I might be teaching you to suck eggs, but do you realise its 3 points per illegal tyre. ie if plod noticed thats 12 points and a ban.

Mines a 204. They need to catch me. ;)
Seriously though, when I say illegal, they are right on the limit so would be of no use to anyone.
Free to good home otherwise they go to the tip.
