Tried to buy a steering wheel from this member, I paid by bank transfer on 20th Aug, wheel never turned up. Lots of excuses. Many phone calls, Emails and threats later I finally got my money back last night.
Buying from people on a forum is a lot of trust, other people on here have been very good and have no problems so no reflection on other members.

I've just had the same on Facebook sales site, PayPal money over and the item never arrived and they never answered emails. Private sale so PayPal wont do anything. Fortunately for the seller I don't live around the corner !!
Lesson learnt I guess.

What I have found with all the PayPal transactions where I don't know the person rather than sending as a gift I just add the fees. That way you should be covered for most items. And if they don't want to do that then alarm bells start ringing.

Make sure you check the PayPal terms depending on what you are buying but once you pay as a gift.....

You could always repay them by sharing their details with companies who like to pester. Surely they need double glazing, PPI claims etc.

Also makes me think we need some privacy on the forum. Any scallywags could join and track members down for their pride and joy.

The other trick that the scallywags are using is to put a small tracker on which ever car they pick out at car shows, mainly classics that get shut away out of the way. Some of our members have got an awful lot of money tied up in their motors.

Never pay by gift! Always pay the extra so they can't moan about getting charged! That way you can claim your money bk

It's very sad to read this sort of thing. I had a very uneasy feel about this guy when I saw his first listings, they didn't seem genuine. E.G. Look at his listing for sale on July 16th, seems to think he's gods gift when it comes to T6's. And I've never found anything about "VINTAGE CUSTOMS OF STOCKPORT" which he mentions. One thing I've always believed in though is don't assume everyone is dishonest, just try and be wary of those who aren't.

There is no way of someone finding out where you actually live, the only details you show is the city you set as your location when you signup
I regularly remove/edit peoples locations when they signup and put their postcode in !
