Watfield Wheel Spacers

Hmm not for me I wouldn’t be bolting my wheel bolts into ally and at a reduced torque, I don’t want put anyone off, my opinion I also like to not additionally load my wheel bearings

I thought the spacers just had holes in them and you use longer bolts on the original hubs. Didn't realise you had to reduce the torque on the bolts.

Sorry if I'm being dumb!

The thinner ones do, thicker ones are threaded, hopefully with Helicoil inserts.

It’s not just that - you’ll be loading your wheel bearings more too

Looks like iv'e started something here, getting back to my original point, without theories and speculation and opinions, has anyone experienced real life problem by fitting bolt on to hub adaptors/spacers, Watfields or otherwise, ie, major part failure, early wheel bearing replacement etc.., that was the point of the original post!

Had some 20mm (front) and 30mm (rear) watfield spacers on with my devonports for around 15000miles now and no problems, had them on and off a few times for various reasons and they're showing no signs of wear or tear.
Fronts are bolt through with longer bolts, rears are bolted to hubs and threaded for standard bolts. All bolts tightened to 180nm as per vw spec and recommended by watfields with strict instructions not to use impact tools.
As for reducing wheel bearing life, I've yet to hear of any problems on this forum and countless members use spacers and/or wheels with differing offset (same effect).

I recently purchased some spacers from Watfields for my Amarok Canteras after the heads up from @Gavinda . 20mm and 15mm both are the type that fits straight to the hub and use longer bolts, also tightened to VW recommend torque (180nm) as per instructions from Watfields, no issues for me, although to be fair only done about 600 miles since fitting. Seem very good quality and got next day delivery for free. I would definitely recommend and use again if needed.

Thanks Gavina, CarpyT6, Brilliant replies, actual recommendations,(or not), is always the best approach!, thanks again guys

Does anyone know if the H&R adaptors/spacers are 150mm diameter, Watfields are 150mm, and they say will fit my new Devonports ok, bit concerned though as I've measured the back face of the wheel and the diameter is 163-5mm, Has anyone fitted the 150mm diameters to Devonports, and is it ok? Thanks

Yes they are a little smaller in diameter bit it's never caused issues my vans well loaded and I drive it like its not mine at times.

Thats put my mind at rest, Just one more thing Gavina, looks like the bolts on my BK Racing 18" alloys are tapered shanks, am i right in thinking the Devonports will need the conical type bolt? Did you have to cut them down or did you buy shorter ones, if so what length were they. (Watfields said they will probably need cutting down a bit but didn't say by how much).

I used the bolts supplied by Watfields, came with the conical seats and fitted perfectly.

I've run h&r 25mm bolt on spacers to the rear with both Davenport's and canteras. Absolutely no problems. Also 15mm fronts with the Davenport's.
Trade prices they are a lot more justifiable but still not quite as cheap as the watfields.

If your fitting devonports you will need different bolts anyway won't you? Didn't think aftermarket bolts work in oem wheels ?If your ordering from Watfields they come with the bolts needed for the size of spacer .

Anybody interested in my 18" BK Racing Wheels and tyres, if i like the Davenport set up i'll probably be selling the BK's
