Welcome new members

Welcome to the forum.

I‘ve just replied to another thread with this but seemed like it might be helpful for you too…….

Deffo drive it around for a bit as is to get used to it, shake down any initial teething troubles you might have and decide what you want to do before heading down one costly path that might not work out.

What are you intending to end up with? a Kombi, a campervan, a day van, something to transport a bike, a fishing van?

What layout? Don’t go for the traditional layout if it doesn’t work for you.

Are you planning on a pop top? Windows all round or just in the sides?

I would approach things in this order to save having to undo work already done and make things easier (if budget allows)…

Strip out bulkhead/ply lining
Get windows installed
Get pop top installed if planning on one/budget available now
Sound deaden
Insulate
Install wiring
Carpet lining
Install anything that involves drilling holes in van floor e.g gas drop out, diesel heater, rock n roll bed, rails
Flooring
Cabinets/furniture

Most important of all - enjoy

Welcome.

Suggest you get out there and view some in the flesh and test drive several to get a feel for what is good/normal and what is not.

The 150 is a reliable engine and mated to a DSG gearbox it is really nice to drive.

I wrote this post for someone the other day asking about the difference between a factory Kombi and a conversion as I have converted one from an PV to an Kombi and now own a factory Kombi.

If converting from a panel van to a Kombi you will simply need to fill out the ‘number of seats’ on the V5 log book and return it to the DVLA for it to be updated from 2/3 to 5/6.

You’ll need to declare the Kombi conversion (and any other modifications from the way it left the factory) to your insurer and you might find you will need to use a specialist like Brentacre or A-Plan who cater for modified vans.

Good luck and keep us updated.

After scouring this awesome forum for a few months and finding the answers to many of my questions already posted I’ve realised most of you aren’t dickheads (like some other very judgy forums) and are actually nice helpful people. Who’da thunk it? ;-)
So, Hello. I’m Gray. Looking forward to spending some time on here.
This is our Caravelle and we love it. I bought it and wrapped it with the most ridiculous of PPI payouts from Black Horse. So I can’t say “I never win anything” anymore.

Hi All - New to this forum. About to order cali ocean - It appears to come with a decent spec - however is there anything that you think I should add on. I love the two tone colour but just can't justify £3k on paint........
