Welcome new members

Hi

Thank-you for letting me join. I have a T6.1 Kombi arriving next week. Planning to use it as a combination of day van and cargo vehicle. First job is to get a rear window fitted as my wife is not keen to drive it without one. Also plan to insulate and carpet line. Likely to install a platform at the same height as folded rear seats. I will be carrying bikes, kayaks, wood for my carpentry. We are also thinking of getting lower half sprayed a different colour to create a two tone with the existing silver.

Hi,

just joined the site after doing some ‘lurking’. Have had a caravan and until last year a static. Looking at getting VW van next year now and am doing my research. Tickets booked to the NEC show in October and if anyone else has any suggestions for shows then they’ll be gratefully received, as will any advice. FWIW I’m looking at buying from a dealer. Thank you.

Sounds good and a similar journey that I'm about to start...!

Pop pics up when you can (we love pics on here!)

Welcome to the forum.

The NEC is usually a great show, but my advice would be to take your own food/drink supplies - the food-halls get very busy, are very expensive and serve poor quality food. Also, wear comfy footwear!

Morning All. Thanks for the add. Been researching a custom build for a while now. Keep flip flopping between T6, Transit or a Trafic and have finally settled on a VW. Looking to build a full width bed, minimal furniture, day van type setup. Currently looking at base vans to buy and would appreciate any advice. Prefer a highline spec and probably a 150bhp engine but advice and experience much appreciated.

Hi I’m new here, however I’ve owned my T5.1 Highline Bluemotion Tech Kombi manual in red for over 5 years. Pretty much nothing has gone wrong just regular service, mot,s ect.
I met a guy with a newer version maybe T6/6.1 that had a lot of Leighton styling ,wheels , lowered suspension, splitter, roof bars, side bars ect, ect. I phoned Leighton and they don’t offer much for my t5.1. Is there any other recommended companies that do facelift work? I’m based in chesterfield.

Hello everyobe
Just joined this forum, as my wife and me embark on the first steps to purchase our campervan
As before the well worn track of questions we certainly set up a few base requirements but then we need to get some views on other aspects of what we purchase
Look forward to journey though !

Don't rush, it's a significant step so enjoy the journey and try and visit/see as many options as you can.

And keep an open mind, we found out after lots of thinking about the fundamentals that the campervan we wanted wasn't a campervan

Welcome to the forum.
If possible, maybe look to rent a van out for a weekend or longer, that way you will have an idea of what you need, what you don't etc.
Unfortunately, once you have purchased said van with everything that you think you need, the devious folk on here will plant many a seed and the spending won't stop.

I thank everyone for the welcome !
One issue which is sure known to everyone is we def want a DSG by virtue is rarer as I don’t think I am prepared to drive long distance in a manual and to be honest I have a vehicle to use and enjoy as manual and the campervan is not in my mind to enjoy the drive in manual as I want to cruise and enjoy the scenery ?

Hi I had my van remapped from an 84bhp to which they said is now a 150bhp but it has devastated my mpg down to 29mpg round town and 32mpg on a run, I've tried to verify the figures with Viezu but they are unwilling to give me the info as my name is not on the remap request it was the dealers, even though I paid the bill, think there being pedantic. I don't think it was a good move as when I'm towing my caravan which weighs 1450kg fully loaded goes down to 25mpg so spend more time filling it up as I'd like to, Do you think that I should have it put back to original and just ask them for more torque, My wife loves the van so stuck with it, any advise would be grateful. I had a Vivaro crew cab before excellent mpg and pulling power..

Hi! I'm new here...
I've almost finished converting my T6 van into a campervan including original California pop top roof. I'll post pictures later in another thread...
And I've got some questions, so will be posting in sub forums here and there;-)
