What are you drinking tonight?

First up tonite will be, Guzzler at 3.6% from York Brewery, followed by Maximus at 6% from Double Maxim Brewing Co.
Double Maxim! Presume it is a new brewery making an old recipe? Wasn't it Vaux? Used to get that in bottles occasionally , lovely stuff

You are right, it was brewed by Vaux, until the day the brewery was bulldozed. It is now brewed in DH4 5NL postcode. They still bottles of Double Maxim up our way, although in different shapes bottles to the old stuff.

Is the use of a post code rather than a location, due to a North Eastern rivalry?

Maxim Brewery, formed by former Vaux directors and now back in Sunderland.

Er, no. I read the address from the bottle, it only quotes the post code, which I had no idea to its location. I assumed Durham area, but didn't check. Thanks for filling in the missing info.

Your welcome BoroBoy, in a previous life I spent a lot of years in the North East with the RAF and there was constant banter between the lads from Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Newcastle, oh almost forgot, Guisborough and Hartlepool (they were the most entertaining)

Just checked the postcode. The brewery is in Houghton Le Spring. Not too far from me, so will have to give it a visit when travel restrictions are lifted.

Back on the Weald.

'Amber' ale (i.e. a bitter ) but very hoppy without being floral. Good job I like this one, there's twice as much of this in the boxes :think smile bounce:

i'm sure Sunderland had Vaux on their shirt's backin the day.Anyway having a very hot madrass with a few kingfishers.
