Roll up whenever you like, just bring some snacks. Are you having an open house when it’s ready @Gavinda
We started out with those but apparently we're mostly growing slugs and pigeons now.Apples, pears, blackcurrants, gooseberries, raspberries, blueberries, rhubarb, sugar snap peas, runner beans, spaghetti squash, gherkin cucumbers, purple sprouting broccoli, black kale, beetroot, lettuce, herbs and the inevitable radish.
I’ll be picking 60-70Kg of blackcurrants in the next 2 weeks, eating the things twice / day all year when at home.
Peas.
We grow a few rows of peas and our children (all in their 20's), and Grandchildren, follow my example. Whilst picking some pods for dinner, shell one out and eat the peas.
They're delicious and so far none have made it to the pot for cooking.
I love watching my Grand children eating the freshest vegetable ever eaten and loving it. They can't get enough of them!
Used to do this when mum and dad had a big veg garden. They're gorgeous. I prefer them raw like this.I'm challenging you all to try it and see if you disagree!
About 12 sqM of blackcurrants, never prune and cover them in wood ash from the woodburner. Branches are so heavy they are on the ground. We've got a couple of blackcurrent bushes in the garden, you must have a bigger garden than us!
