What Have You Done To Your Van Today?

Agreed. Similar to my trade, if I were to throw parts at a faulty boiler until the issue was resolved instead of spending time fault finding my way to the actual cause & replacing the component that needed changing, I’d expect there to be questions asked upon invoicing, regarding any unnecessary work carried out beforehand.

Sadly the motor industry does seem to be immune of this to some degree.

That said, the guys come with a good reputation so I’ll go with thier judgement, but the above analogy will be getting wheeled out if the work doesn’t resolve the problem.
I once had a car with a bit of a knocking felt through the steering. The main dealer weren't sure what it was, but wanted to replace the steering rack. "Fine", I said, "but only if you think it'll fix the problem."

It didn't, and after much arguing with them and my credit card company (I pay everything on ther CC for the purchase protection, then pay it off straight away) I ended getting refinded the £900+ bill by the CC firm, much to the dealer's chagrin. An expensive lesson for them in making some effort to diagnose the problem rather than simply making a guess and firing the parts cannon at it and expecting the customer to pay for their lack of persistence and skill.

I can't remember what the problem was (it was near on 30 years ago) but I took it elsewhere and the next garage found the problem within half an hour and it was barely £100 to fix properly. suspension top link or somesuch.

Finally picked the old girl up from the garage after 4 weeks.
Master cylinder replaced and not the dreaded slave cylinder like I thought.
Major service carried out too.

Please forgive my thoughts of wanting to sell the van and replace it with a pick up.

Not what I have done but what @AJCConversions have done before the new camper arrives next week!
Bonnet deflector and windscreen visor :)

Very nice, great colour too! What's the height like inside the crafter, that's the medium height one isn't it?

If I ever get to the stage where my van is a second vehicle then I think something that sort of size will be in my future. Something with full stand up height and comfortable living for long trips.

swapped the front wheels with the back. not overly exciting but keeps tyre wear even. I also found that I have a broken rear spring. typical as mot is booked for next week
