You didn't fancy blue ones then, possibly with some dodgy wiring for an intermittent effect?Only put them on this morning. Will need to go for night time run to check the effect.

No. I hate seeing flashing blue lights. You didn't fancy blue ones then, possibly with some dodgy wiring for an intermittent effect?
Me too - my first thought is always "uh-oh, what I've done wrong?" followed by a flush of relief when they bomb past.No. I hate seeing flashing blue lights.
Question (educating self) and one the likes of @TallPaul_S can likely answer alongside others, why have an inverter? What do people run on these? Not necessarily today, but over the last few weeks I've been on a mission...

Main socket leads back to a plug which I can either plug into the Renogy inverter, or into an additional socket I've installed just next to it, which is fed from the EHU hookup and consumer unit fitted under the bonnet next to the battery (forgot to take photos of that bit). It's got a transfer switch in the Renogy it but not 100% on the earthing sides of things so keeping it simple and separate. Easy to just plug into either option

Roamer Seatbase230 which I've had for a good while now, needed the inverter relocating now the furniture's in. Those pairs of 170A cables DO NOT like bending I tell ya. Also managed to squeeze two busbars under that seat, along with the Victron Orion and SmartShunt too

For me, I rarely use campsites with hookup and want to run a few 230v devices like an induction hob, laptop charger, ebike charger etc. the only way to do that without hookup is with an inverter.Question (educating self) and one the likes of @TallPaul_S can likely answer alongside others, why have an inverter? Is it the eternal quest for a coffee machine. Haha?!
I have a 1kW kettle which I can use to boil water for brews; run an electric blanket off grid (very useful for kipping in the van for a couple of nights in Scotland when it’s -4 in December; I could run a microwave… might get one eventually. Already got an espresso machine that runs at about 800w :-D I have no intention of cooking inside the van on gas, I’ll do that outside if I’m camped up but I might wanna reheat summat. Plus I could easily power a laptop for work. 2kW is probably over the top, but it leaves scope for some of the above stuff and I like gadgets, plus the Roamer Seatbase230 is a beast with oodles of capacityQuestion (educating self) and one the likes of @TallPaul_S can likely answer alongside others, why have an inverter? No need for an inverter for that - I have a 4g router which runs off a 12v USB plug.I don’t really have an internet solution sorted for van, wonder if this would necessitate an inverter (besides the holy grail of coffee, I just use an aero press)
Do you have a link? I bought a little rechargeable pebble thing and a smarty sim, but doesn’t seem to work so wellNo need for an inverter for that - I have a 4g router which runs off a 12v USB plug.
Boiling-water tap, induction hob, toaster, air fryer, milk frother, electric blanket, laptop charger, BUT hair-straighteners and hair-dryer - over my dead body.Question (educating self) and one the likes of @TallPaul_S can likely answer alongside others, why have an inverter? Hot water for washing up provided by kettle or 12v heater that the birchover is blessed with.Boiling-water tap, induction hob, toaster, air fryer, milk frother, electric blanket, laptop charger, BUT hair-straighteners and hair-dryer - over my dead body.![]()
