Where Have You Been In Your Van Today?

Just back from a 2 and a half week Grand Tour of Scotland via (from Gloucestershire), York and Berwick upon Tweed, to Glenrothes, Aviemore, Glen Nevis, Portree, The Trossachs, Garlieston then an overnight near Knutsford on the way home.

High points / recommendations;
Berwick Upon Tweed - a very interesting place
Loch Morlich - intend to stay in the adjacent campsite next time
Glen Nevis Campsite
Torvaig Campsite on the Isle of Skye.
The rest of the Isle of Skye
Auchentullich Farm Shop near Luss
Garlieston - stunning unspoilt coastal village
Getting home and spreading out on a king size bed again.

Low points;
High speed train (East Coast Main Line) passing within metres of us just after 6am each morning in the C&MC club site in Berwick.
Traffic around Edinburgh and Perth
The number of hire cars being driven Kamikazi style on the Isle of Skye
Every viewpoint parking area full of motorhomes
Hearing the M6 all night from the Royal Vale campsite near Knutsford.
Trip ending.

I’m two weeks into a six week trip around Cally.
Yes there are oodles of Bloomin motor homes, many driven by morons - watch out for the hired ones they are the worst.

However..
The number of Motorhomes are only exceeded by the number of VW campers- blimmin’ things seem to breed up here.
Trillions of the buggers!
:think smile bounce::think smile bounce:

I can’t imagine what it was like during school hols either.

Anyway, back on track, today’s pics.

Watching Harry Potter going to school on the steam train in Glenfinnan this afternoon and Neptune’s staircase at Fort Bill.

IMG_2169.jpgIMG_2185 4.jpgIMG_2192 3.jpgIMG_2211 2.jpgIMG_2216.jpgWe've not been away in the van for a bit, mostly due to trying to avoid the crowds in the summer holidays. We have just been for a few days near Settle in North Yorkshire via Beeston Castle in Cheshire. There was lots of walking and generally being far too active. It was the first time the awning (a dubpod roamer) was put up and we realised that that the instructions sent were for a different tent but we managed to muddle through. I'm generally pleased with it and it stood up to some pretty strong winds on Wednesday night but it is very difficult to attach to the van. It's also the first time we have used the Campal for more than 1 night. It was great.
I can recommend the Orcaber campsite near Austwick. The bogs and showers were nicer and cleaner than a lot of posh hotels I've stayed in.
