Which Swivel seats to pick

Is there anyway, that you can put in stronger / different bolts? Or possibly another nut and bolt. I wouldn't be happy with all that movement, as new, what's it going to be like in 10K miles

I don't really want to touch it, just want one that works, probably a Sportscraft or Remio by the sounds of things. I think it'll just be going back to Cheshire Motor Caravans (CMC) because it looks super dodgy to me.

Easy to fit, although bloody heavy. Very stiff when first fitted but I guess they are all like this when new.

Product is solid and locks when forward an backwards which is really handy.

@Texxaco, @david173 - I'm looking to fit a single passenger swivel, and tempted to go down the Rusty Lee route. Now that you've both had yours fitted for some time I'd welcome a long term review from you both before taking the plunge - any squeaks, rattles, flex etc? And if you had your time again would you make the same decision? Thanks in advance chaps.
 
If it is of any help to you I have the Rusty Lee seat swivels on my van. They are great - they don't rattle or squeak. They haven't lifted the driving position too much - we do drive with them right down. I fitted the handbrake lowering kit from Coombe Valley Campers
I need to raise the seat a little to turn it over the handbrake whilst it is applied but it works! I was concerned that in having the leisure electrics installed under the driver's seat that the low-height battery might not fit but it did without the converter having to pack out the base to lift the swivel.

Bottom line is I'm still really happy with it. A few further points to add below:
  • It did develop a slight squeak, only when a passenger was sat on it and you turned a sharp corner such a roundabout etc. however, I put some silicone spray on it and this has since cured it.
  • The seat has a little more flex than without a swivel, but this will be the case with all of them as the the pivot point is in the centre of the seat rather than the 4 bolts at the corners (think of the moment, force x level arm) as is the case without the swivel. But as you can see from the images, the Rusty lee has one of the largest centre holes and good number of bolts and fully TUV so I'm happy this is as good as can be for any swivel.
  • The only thing I don't like is the additional height (approx. 25mm) it adds to the seat height. It doesn't sound a lot but compared to the driver seat with no swivel its less comfy and you do notice the increase. A foot rest or lowered seat base would sort this out. This is common across all the swivels though so not unique to the Rusty Lee.
If I was ordering from new I would go OEM swivels, as despite having no height adjustment they feel the right height anyhow. I've not measured the OEM swivel height vs the aftermarket with the seat all the way down but I would say my friends have the VW California with factory swivels and in my opinion are better, comfier and lower than seat with aftermarket swivel. Big but.....retrofit of those will leave you with little or no change from £2.5K ish, So for the money the Rusty Lee is a great solution.

I took mine out as we decided not to go down the camper van route. Mine is Pete much brand new if you are looking for one.

Thanks David - silicone spray is a top tip (for the front seats in general, not just the swivel base!). OEM option is definitely the pricey option - already had my seats re-trimmed in leather, so they won't be going. I'm just going to fit one to the front passenger seat, and the missus has that height adjusted up a little bit anyway, so I'm hoping that once the base is fitted and I drop the height adjuster right down, she may not even notice the difference.

Hi all

I’m sure it’s been covered before but what is the best aftermarket swivel for t6, anybody using the rusty lee versions? Do they raise the height of the seat much and more importantly does it wobble about when fixed for driving, or need any plastic trimmed?

Guys, Anyone point me in the best direction regarding purchasing swivel bases. After reading previous posts I can see most people have went with either sportscraft or Kiravan ones. Has anyone got experience or seen both in action that can recommend which ones to go for?? (I have 2 single seats...

Any body using the CTA swivel plates?
I’m looking for two single seat swivels which fit between the base mount box and the seat base.

my kiravans squeaked that much I sold it and bought a sportskraft - it has better support on the corners with wheels, unlike the kiravans

Rg, my Sportscraft seat only locks into place when facing forwards and as far as I can see that is normal. Only locking forward and free to rotate in any other position seems ok for our usage.

My sportscraft passenger swivel doesn’t lock in forward position! Got to keep moving it and fiddling with locating arm to get the pin to locate in the cut out. Also, the base catches on one of the corner bolt heads. I need to remove it and do a bit of fettling when weather improves.
 
I had Sportscraft fitted in my T6 and they were a rattling nightmare. I now have the Kiravan seat in my T6.1, and with a bit of grease and some tightening up of fixings, they are perfect, and I'm rattle intolerant!

Funny that! I went from kiravans to sports craft ! Sport crafts now rattle… unless the misses is on the seat!!

@Scruffy, or anyone else who has the Kiravans RIB drivers swivel ...

When you get a moment, please could you measure the minimum height of the front of the drivers seat. I have the Kiravans passenger swivel installed and yet to install the drivers side. My seat is currently 41cm, so would be interested to know if I can get near that, after trimming seat plastics.

I've read through various threads and the sportscraft swivels seem to be the best is that still the case.

I'm looking for passenger single and driver's with leisure battery
 
We only use Sportscraft as very sturdy .

However we do not use the handbrake brackets to lower the handbrake for clearance, as it looks awful. So we modify the box section and trim the oe plastics for a factory finish
