Which Swivel seats to pick

Thank you BenP makes sense, can I ask why you need shims for the passenger side? Are these the same scopema swivels Kiravans sell? Would you be able to post up a link if not please?

I believe Kira vans resell RIB swivels. If you put seat in lowest position you need to trim seat plastic on red lever. They do supply spacers for driver to go above handbrake but the seat is really high and I have found it still slightky rubs the handbrake cover when rotating.

Thanks Eclipse, so if I have my drivers seat at the highest setting with the included spacers/shims will it still rub against the handbrake? Looks like the scopeama/Kiravans/Rib will be the way to go?

Hello @Badger ,i have Sportscraft swivels on both seats,no shims or spacers or anything,no rattles or wobbling either. I did have to use a lowering bracket for the handbrake but no trimming of plastics etc but i do have both captains seats not a double passenger

Hi Martin, thanks for your input, handbrake lowering is not an option for me, just means I will have to mess around with adjustments which are from factory. Kira vans one appears to not have this issue. I also have only 2 seats in the front so just wanted an option which does not involve trimming plastic or lowering the handbrake.

When we used RIB (scopema same compamy) and the shim bars they still caught the handbrake cover just. The lever to rotate is on the side so seat base trim needs to be cut if you want to go fully low. Sportscraft, Reimo or similar have lever at front so no seat panel trimming needed. The handbrake will need lowering with these types. You could use lowering bracket but we dont like this as it is functional, not pretty and you cant use factory plastics.
If you are close to us in somerset ee could do the fitting for you. Cheers

As far as i am aware @Badger , although i could easily be wrong, all of the swivels you have mentioned will need the handbrake lowered to swivel the seats properly. There are options to tidy the plastics up. Not sure what you mean by messing around with factory adjustments? If its just the handbrake cable you mean,it just gets tightened up. @Eclipse Campers seems to have a different solution to a lowering bracket but not sure why a bracket is not functional, ours works fine although we did fit a stronger one than the one that came with the Sportscraft swivels which is a bit flimsy,IMG_1114.PNGhope you find the solution you want

Hi Martin, i meant the lowering bracket is fine and functional and yes you can get covers but we try to leep everything looking OEM using original plastics, not using double width aftermarket plastics for example. Nothing wrong with this but we have a different approach. Cheers

Yes they're the kiravans ones. I bought them off someone else and they can with shims for both seats. You only need the drivers side one but it makes the seats the same height

Haven't noticed any drama with seat height, but I'm also not that fussy. Also only use my right foot because I have DSG

Hi guys after just a passenger swivel for my van.

Do you need offset because of the armrests for the passenger seats or not?

And do all the swivels require trimming of the plastic parts?
I have the bottom plastic facia that you can pop on and off with some plugs and want that to be able to keep that there. Any advice? See pic.

I have a sportscraft swivel on my passenger seat and can’t fault it.
Pivot is central not offset.
To spin it you need to lever the seat up and wind the back of the seat to a vertical position but it spins fine and doesn’t catch the arms.
As for the base piece with your sockets in, you’ll need to trim the top section that goes under the Seat. Won’t affect the plugs at all.
I trimmed mine then used a few strips of Velcro to secure it.
I can’t comment on other models but in my experience Sport craft will suit your needs perfectly.

Thanks mate just what I needed to know. Have you had any issues with rocking or creaking?

Its this one isn't it?

I’ve got this one, from these people:

They do one with the nut on the top if you have stuff under the Seat. Raises the Seat slightly higher.

Zero creaking. It doesn’t “rock” rather flexes when no one is sat in it.
Misses says she can feel it flexing more than it it did before fitting but it’s not an issue.

If it had creaked or vibrates causing a distraction I’d have taken it straight out as for 95% of its live it’s just me in the van driving it.

For the money you can’t go wrong.

Awesome thanks. The same with me, majority of the time is just me and then the girlfriend when we are out.

Sounds like the right choice then. Thanks

I've got a pair of Sportscraft swivels under my captains chairs. As mentioned above there is a noticeable amount of flex compared to without the swivels but certainly no rocking or play in the swivel itself. Their design incorporates tabs that lock under one another when the seat is in the forward position to provide additional support. From memory this only prevents forward movement which I assume is for crash protection and as such the seat can bend back a little bit if you push on it.
My drivers side has developed a creak but I am quite sure that this is the height adjuster and nothing to do with the Sportscraft parts. I need to spray some lube in there but keep forgetting until the next drive....

Heated seats a doddle nice big hole in center of swivel base and wee connector under the seat. If if was going again I would disconnect the battery first, I have airbags in my seat and got airbag warning msg when I plugged them back in. Glad I got caristaapp :)

Kev
New to T6 and I want to fit a passenger swivel; I'm concerned about the airbag electrics...( never had em on my old T3) does disconnecting the battery solve all issues or do things need resetting when the battery is reconnected? What is 'caristaapp'?"
cheers
Brian

I've had a good read thro the thread, I'm after a swivel base for T6 Caravelle, Its heated seats and i'd like to use OEM, is this an option, there's a lot of talk about Kiravans and Sportscraft, But to save faffing and the eternal wondering if its flexing or creaking i'd like to go down the factory fit route, Is this an option.

Obviously there's a cost involved.
