Winter Maintenance

On maintenance matters, if you have an EHU, it is really useful to run a dehumidifier in the van!
Agreed, I bought a Gold-Tec mini, uses 12 & 240v, so runs on EHU or leisure battery/solar. Takes out a cup or so of water every day. They don't seem to be available at the moment:(

Another storage tip...keep correct tyre pressure and if you can roll tyres to avoid sitting on one spot for extended period ...
I use bilt hamber shampoo it contains a rust inhibitor and although it will not stop that Veneer it does hold it off for awhile :)

Funny thing that, I used to do a lot of work at a MOD storage facility where they have thousands of vehicles stored ‘in reserve’ and used to wonder about the tyres as some vehicles hadn’t moved for 20+ years.

During a supplier review I mentioned it to their top bod and he said it’s an old wives tale, he explained that they do go out of shape but it only takes a few miles to get a bit of heat in the tyre to sort it out..

Who knows really but I thought it interesting in light of the comment about tyres.

Personally I wouldn’t worry about the tyres for a few months but I would give it a run every couple of months to keep everything else moving.

Yeh..taken many a rover out of the MT yard and the trailers would bounce along the road till they settle down but the tyres where built like brick s**t houses in a lot of cases our vans have car tyres with soft compounds....Good old MOD anything rubber got changed every 3 years... we used sell lots of nice so called scrap tyres...had the best T Bar fund:):inlove::laugh:

If you have a potable water tank remember to drain it and the line to the outlets.
I think I just got to mine in time.

Mine stick too. I tend to be very easy on the brakes because I drive like reginald molehusband living in North Yorks.........there's a camera van around every corner! I don't think my rear disks see much action, so once in a while, I GENTLY pull the handbrake on whilst going down hill just to clean the disks up.
