T6 204 diesel.
Van was used on a long drive and then a trip to the shops. It was left 5 mins and then wouldn’t start. Turns over but doesn’t fire.
no fault codes.
There was a slight burning smell when I parked up and it looks as if the front egr pipe has a crack, rear one has already been replaced.
Any ideas before the spanners come out ?
Crank sensor ?

what year?

scan data will show some direction.

scan for a RMP signal.

look for fuel rail pressure.

look for missing modules - possible blown fuses.

what you using to scan for codes?

Thanks for your reply. Scan attached.

2017 model year

ok so you have access to vcds.

lets look at the 01 - engine PIDS.

To see if anything is missing.

@mmi may have some input on the VCDS front.

measuring block001 -

do you get a RPM reading when turning over?

do you get good voltage?

does the turning over sound right? - too fast/slow?

can you get a video clip (on phone) and post on youtube for us to see/hear?

The measuring blocks are greyed out. I have found a screen that shows crank and camshaft signals along with fuel pressure.
Engine turns over at normal speed and sounds normal.
I’m quite new to vcds so will do some studying.

have a quick look here re vcds:

.

also what millage?

has it had a cam belt change yet?

are you thinking slipped cam belt?

post a few pics of the engine bay. and that EGR pipe etc . . . . so we have something to go by.

Timing belt was changed 4K ago, took cover off and all looks ok. Van on 54k now.
egr pipe was weeping water from around the crack, guessing that’s normal from burning hydro carbon. It’s leaking slightly where the pipe fits into the flange. I’ve taken some pictures of vcds before and whilst cranking. No injector value ?? Battery is ok, voltage low as been cranking a lot.

fuel filling . . ?

injector start and duration . . . ?

that may be the issue? - no fuel?

......................

but rail pressure shows 40400kpa . . . so has fuel in rail.

Tick "Group UDS requests" - by 7.
Click Log - Start
Crank the engine - 3 seconds is enough.
Stop logging etc.
The logfile will be in folder ...VCDS\Logs
Please post the logfile.

injectors are run from J623 Engine ECU . .

i think id be looking at checking EVERY FUSE, one at a time. . . . . to see if we have a blow fuse or open relay.

fuses look like they being fed from SA & SB engine bay fuse boxes.

Thanks for your replies, awesome help.
MMI, I have attached the log but I can't open it.

Thanks - strange indeed. As already seen on your screenshots - it seems that injectors do not open at all when they should (red in the picture), neither activity on timing (see picture in my post above).
There is airflow, fuel pressure, EGR turned off, throttle open,... but no fault code!

Forum compressed the picture - a better copy in PDF-format attached.

Certainly wouldn't hurt to get also full copy of engine's measurement values.

VCDS -> Applications -> Controller Channel Map ->
1627854265341.png

Tick/fill boxes as above and hit Go.
VCDS flashes screens for a moment (when finished hit "Done, Go Back") and there will be file blockmap-01-... in folder C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Logs\....
