Well in eager anticipation of delivery of my T6.1 (build week having been confirmed as this week!! I thought I'd start my 'build' thread here and show some pics when it comes and keep a track of what I intend to do to it!

This thread kind of takes up where this one finishes:-

So all being well we might see it early 2024 - whoop whoop!!

Time to pop a few updates on here, in no particular order and certainly not chronological!

£7 well spent in my opinion!

A few weeks ago now, but DSG gear knob replacement:-

Came out pretty nice if I may say so myself! (Actually the melty melty of the plastic doodah was done by 'other'...)

Popped a manual gaiter on with a manual gaiter frame from a T6.1 manual that was being broken by Transporter Heaven

POWER!!!!!

OK - time for some juice ;)

Thanks to a forum member here ( @t6blo I'm looking at you!) I got myself an Ecoflow Delta Mini for a fair price.

I wanted the flexibility of being able to drag the whole unit out of the van and use it elsewhere, which I wouldn't have achieved with a full LB + inverter set up. My requirements for power also don't justify the kind of outlay in £££'s that needs.

So, having built and carpeted a nice big square wheelarch box, I mounted the EF on top of the fixed section of lid (you can just see the join in the lid if you look close) which I then passed a strap through to prevent it being a 20kg missile in the event of a prang.

Then set about putting in various outlets, 240v + USB on the rear of the passenger seat:-

Then 240v + 12v at the rear in my new wheelarch box:-

All cabled to the rear of the EF, (12v via a mini fusebox thing):-

Don't have any pics to hand, but using my newly discovered method for an ignition live (more accurately and engine running live) HERE I was able to get power to the EF to charge when driving. I also have the flexibility of dragging the whole thing out by undoing the strap, pulling out the 12v supply, 12v out + 240v then taking it inside and charging from my house/work.

Overall a very good solution to my power requirements.

Long overdue and totally not in chronological order... but hey ho - here's an update!

Time to install my Laguna cupholders for the Junior Z1ts (who also mess up the back of my seat    )

Quite a neat solution although I say so myself...!

Next update, some reading lights - Junior Z1ts are 110% bookworms

Bit of a puckery bottom moment drilling the side of me nice shiny van!

IMG-20250102-WA0003.jpg

Of course I broke all the (new) clips holding the trim between the roof panels...

And I've just noticed you can see another mod I've done but not updated this thread with.... (speakers BOOM!)

All running off my Ecoflow 'leisure battery' set-up described in some detail above

What reading lights did you use ? I bought some a while back and need to dig them out and get them fitted really

Looks great this!.
This is the kind of "power setup" i need. I don't need a full LB setup and want the power portable/remove from van when not needed or if i have to work out of the van.
I take it with the led light you just wire the 12v into the back of the eco flow? Also i have been looking into the alternator charger for the eco flow have you one of these fitted? They seem a great setup for similar money to a Traditional LB setup.

Yes.

I used these:- www.ebay.co.uk/itm/263839532028

No I don't have the alternator charger as my EcoFlow Delta Mini doesn't support the alternator charger. My brother-in-law has the alternator charger and loves it! I just trickle-charge using a 12v supply from under the passenger seat using my workaround to get an 'engine-running' live described here:- www.t6forum.com/threads/ignition-live-under-passenger-seat-30-amp-another-way-to-do-it.49156

It works for me. HOWEVER it is not a full LB setup and there are limitations. Like charging via solar and 12v ignition and EHU are all things a bit tricky to incorporate. The system itself does have a power consumption value, so it will go flat if just left with nothing 'technically' plugged in and on.

Thanks for the reply, and links.
I will only be using to charge phone, Nintendo etc and run a fridge for 2-5nights.
Really like the portable use of these systems.
