It's bad knowing there is a good chance of having to replace EGR valve every 5 years, DPF every 8 years (guess?) and engine every 90k miles.

Have you got Carista or similar? That tells you when it was done last and how much soot build up is in the dpf. If you haven't then it's a sound investment for £30

My inlet looked like this at 92k, EGR failed at 108k.. DPF still good, I guess because most the shit ended up in these two places!!

Diesel particulate filter. It catches all the crap that comes out the engine. That might will have come if the van hasn't been able to complete a dpf regen by itself under normal driving.
