    Double seat to single swivel

It's easy to do, but finding a single seat at a decent price is the crux. Be aware that not all seats for sale come with a metal base, and that not all seats are the same. You probably want one with adjustments for height and tilt - called a comfort seat I think. I ended up getting one from...

Factory Swivels Or Not? That Is The Question!

Do you know where the factory swivels leave the height of the seat? Would it be at the lower end of the height adjustable seat or at the higher end? I am trying to gauge the position relative to the normal height adjustable seat if that makes sense.

Factory Swivel Front Seats Or Retro-fit

We have a Highline with heated captains seats. CMC fitted the swivels and we still have height adjustment. I guess as we’d already bought the van they had no choice but to fit aftermarket swivels. No changes to any part of the seat base etc so not sure why they recommend against it.

    Luke's Caravelle

Yeah, it's a shame because it would be nice to have both. There are aftermarket seat bases that are lower and aftermarket swivels bases which can be fitted. I fitted both in my T5, however I was never convinced that the swivel would hold up in a crash. As a result, I want to keep OEM where...

LHD to RHD Caravelle electric seat retrofit

1, I can't comment on whether the seats are interchangeable and comfort etc, although I have heard of people fitting the opposite seat and fitting a new seat belt receiver before. 2, I would definitely advise against this, you'd have nothing to stop the element over heating and causing a fire...

Swivel Seats With Vw Night Heater

Thanks Loz, so I’d need to buy factory swivels? The reason I didn’t spec them in the first place is I wanted the height adjustment. @Oldrat, that’s a good idea... will look into lower batteries Thanks

Factory Swivels Or Not? That Is The Question!

No problems with height. I'm 6'2" and a 32" inside leg and they're bang on. I ordered the swivels as an option to avoid the 'mods' thing later..

Drivers seat as a passenger seat?

Me too. Spot on, at a price. The height adjustment helps with the swivel. But surely no problem having a double airbag for a single seat? How did we survive the 70's and 80's without airbags...........

Best deals on a new Transporter?

I have the factory swivels and find them fine without height adjustment. I already feel I’m sitting higher than I’d like and I can only assume the height adjustment adds even more height even at its lowest setting, unless you go for one of the low seat bases to compensate. But then you can’t...

Factory Swivel Front Seats Or Retro-fit

Remember factory swivels do not have height adjustment, I prefer a higher seat position in my Cali Ocean I feel a little low down. " 5ft 9" I prefer the standard seats with swivels my self.

    Prospective new T6 owner

That is another advantage of using aftermarket swivel bases - you can keep the height adjustment. The seat is obviously a bit higher anyway due to the swivel base. The key thing for us (as well as heated seats) was having the electric lumbar support adjustment and that definitely was not...

Factory Swivels Or Not? That Is The Question!

I’ve got Kiravans swivels on both captains seats. Still get height adjustment and no issues whatsoever. Love them. If you are using the van at all for camping then get swivels (factory or otherwise)
