Thanks guys my thoughts exactly but just thinking about the price lol £7000 saving
Hmmm, where would you go for a quote then? I have been up to dealer zin Yorkshire and Cardiff and a few others... I am hoping to get it down by a few k but have struggled to find cheaper - so far...45k for that? Nip into the Audi dealer and ask them to match this..
Audi Q7 Diesel Estate 45 TDI Quattro Sport 5dr Tiptronic
Compare to the Kombi in terms of spec. Anyone else think that VW have gone beyond taking the pizz?
Check the road tax on that Kombi as the rear windows might see it taxed as a car not a van.
Wait for the T6.1 and buy from a broker. 45k for that is a joke.
Thanks, I was feeling a little bit rushed by the 1.5% increase coming in... and the impression that i had with regards to the release timing of the T6.1. I am planning to convert whichever van i get into a camper. I have spoken to Bognor and am waiting for them to come back to me - the chap i spoke to seems a lot more genuine than the VW dealer lot...Nationwide cars. Or Bognor Motors. Look for 15 to 18 percent off list price.
But seeing as you asked for advice...I would hold off buying and wait for the 6.1.
Buying from a dealer gets you no additional benefits unless you have an unusually exceptional dealer. Most VW dealers do not give a toss once they have your signature on the order form. As for Goodwill once the warranty has finished...dream on.
Buy from a broker at the biggest discount and have it serviced every 12 months or 10k by a VAG independent specialist.

Yes, i think so. its still bloody expensive but i think its not to bad. Just over £44k. I'll save around a grand on the conversion with regards to the windows, 2-300 on not having to change the front seats.hopefully sell the back seats for around £750 so the £44k will turn into around £42k.Cracking spec You get a deal you're happy with?

I ended up going to VW dealers around the country, brokers, online and others and got the best deal i could... Now the wait begins...
Hiya,Hi buddy
What a spec!!!!!
Don’t want to panic you but I nearly went for rear fixed windows behind the sliders until my dealer advised me it could get classed as a passenger vehicle ????
giving it car tax eg ...the first year would be about 1500 then 450 a year there after..
My dealer only said there’s a chance of this and I need to be aware..so I removed this option in the end he also said it may delay the van due to checks regards the vehicle type????
.after reading your post I was wondering if you’re dealer also to you this....
Just to make sure I called a few dealers and they gave me the same answer..
Id give it a check with your dealer just to be sure
Conversion costs are ??????
So we are probably looking at a £60-70k van - nice one, must be a record out there somewhere for a privately owned one?
I was a bit unsure about the seats but opted to save money and get the factory ones for now. Can always sell them on later. Nice camper and history, looks like you enjoy a project!!I would have omitted the factory swivel seats as having had both I find the height adjustment available with standard seats + Sports Craft swivels with the raised swivel fitment to enable easier under seat battery a better option.
I would fit more than one 240v socket just for the flexibility, I fit two doubles one double behind the driver's seat and one double in the wardrobe face.
I also fit four 12v sockets (two front & two rear) although I am considering changing one to a double 12v USB outlet. As you will see from my signature my campers have all been LWB high-roof models, the best having Reimo roofs.

Yes the current T6 (on a LWB Highline 140ps Kombi) is my fiftieth conversion during the past 15 years. I did order a 140ps T5 new from a dealer and that is the one that I opted for factory swivels on but missed the height adjustment. All others have been dealer pre-reg vehicles at the best deal that I could get at the time.
If you are doing your own conversion adding extra electrical sockets adds very little extra cost but adds a lot to the flexibility.
The Eberspacher is great, last Saturday night at Stanford Hall the outside temp dropped to 1.4 degrees but inside it didn't drop below 14.5 degrees, there is nothing like having home comforts! I bet you will struggle to do that with an elevating roof up.
I manage to squeeze in a CRX65 fridge by a bit of modification in the right side panel and a table into the sliding door again with similar modifications within the door.
Rear seat / bed is always Reimo, the T6 has a 333 fitted.
