I'm on 17 inch wheels with 235/65 semi AT tyres. I also have H&R anti-roll bars which, as mentioned above, are a great help. While I cannot offer a direct comparison, I've been quite surprised at how well the 17's handle.
We have two other vehicles in our household which are a Kia Rio on...
4 X BF Goodrich AT tyres...never used them myself but came on some wheels I bought off the forum and now getting around to doing something with the wheels, so wheels are NOT included.
245 X 65/17..all in as new condition, probably done about the 1000 miles as the tread is around 9mm, TBC with...
Could anyone help recalibrate my speedo around the Essex area? Just had 245/65/17 fitted today and speedo reading 70mph but gps saying 74/75mph! Don’t mind the discrepancy being the other way around but I’ll likely end up with speeding tickets if I keep it like this .
Happy to travel and pay...
245/65/17 is a popular swamper size that's about as big as you'll get on the van without (much) rubbing.
Swapping to this from a standard 215/60/17 tyre will lift the van 30mm anyway without the need for a lift kit. However, be warned as the speedo will under read and the larger diameter will...
...That said, 235/65 is a popular size. Big enough to look the part but not so large as to cause rubbing in the vast majority of cases.
245/65 is also popular if you want the full swamper look but being wider and taller, they are more likely to foul somewhere.
245/65 will also cause a...
Good job ! Not sure if the plastic spare wheel undertray is smaller on a T6.1 4mo but 235/55/18 fits in a standard T6 kombi inflated no problem. 245/65/17 and it needs trimming though as it’s 35mm bigger on the diameter.
Mine is a T6.1 Caravelle on 18” VW alloys but not sure if I can get any 18” BFG’s to fit them - was considering the 17” Davenport’s as the wheels are cheap but look ok.
Any suggestions would be welcome as the current Bridgestone tyres are neither any good in the dry or the wet and only last 8k!
...the van yet.
I want to change to BFG K02'S on a set of OZ rally raids, and as it is id only fit 225/65's - but I reckon with a set of std springs, koni special active shocks and a 20mm lift kit that should take me back to just over std (non caravelle) height which will allow 245/65 BFG K02'S.
Hi all,
I have recently converted my T6.1 swb panel van into a camper van. I threw on a set of KMC hole shot rims with Marshall Grabber tyres. My question is what tyre pressure would best suit this particular configuration ?
Thanks in advance
Leon
I have 235/65 17 AT3s and a 30mm drop. No issues at all. Believe I could get another 10mm lower without issue too. I wouldn’t go 245/65 17 as would throw the speedo out too much and I believe rub.
Here’s 2 x t32 4motions. Red one has 235/60/17 agilis crossclimate. Dark blue? One has 235/65/17 cooper discoverers. Red one has rogue alloys.
One of those vans had bfg 245/65/17 ko2 before but took them off because the noise got worse and worse as they wore down.

I am using the site, I want something chunkyier, and yes on the Amarok 17"'s
I like the idea of 225/65/17 102H Falken Wildpeak A/T AT3WA All Season Tyre on either steel wheels or these silver Amarok 17"
Don’t know what it is with the Kato’s but I think they are the best 17” wheel out there.
I am biased, but they just look the part.
I ended up with some Michelin Agilis Climate Controls. 235/60r17. Load rated at 117.
Will post pics in a month once I’m swapped out the current 18” Conti Winter...
235/65's should be completely fine, I think they're fine even down to 40/50mm lowered.
You've got the same wheels as me, 17" Cascavel so presumably 235/55 tyres, with 235/65 tyres you'll gain about 20-25mm ride height, but you're already lower by 20mm (probably more) than a std van which is...
