Check EGR rear and front pipes for splits or leaks, very common. Here’s a search on forum regarding the pipes: Search results for query: egr pipe
Could be a clogged EGR or something else as well but pipes are easiest to rule out.
Hi all,
Code P0401 and engine light on - have been to three garages and all suggest EGR / cooler need replacing…….again! Last one has lasted about 10k. Engine light has turned itself off twice over last month or so lastly after not driving the van for a week but returned about 100 miles into...
Got a quote from another dealer for an EGR flush of £408.00 they also quoted £1709.00 to replace EGR, I am going to ask the first dealer to quote to replace EGR.
Not sure how the EGR operates temperaturewise in CFCA engine but
T6 EU6 (AdBlue) engines close the EGR (no exhaust recirculation) when it's cold.

...read a few threads on T6s with this issue and once a physical leak is ruled out, the two main protagonists seems to be either an issue with the EGR cooler or a cracked cylinder head. We have coolant loss with no visible leaks, oil level appears steady, no smoking from exhaust, no driving...
...hasn't always been a good experience) however recently there was a terrible, diesel smell coming from the engine which turned out to be a split EGR pipe. I'm sure the fumes were giving me headaches every-time I drove it, so I decided to get it fixed asap. On top of that it was due a Cambelt...
Hi,
I just removed the corrugated pipe leaving the egr valve. It had water laying in it, enough to completely soak a sheet of kitchen role.
It wasn't pink like my coolant, which is strange. It seemed to be too much for condensate.
Should the egr valve be dry and sooty at all times?

As per link here are some Darkside Developments T5 T6 EGR cooler blanking plates for 2.0 bitdi 180 CFCA used on my engine for a few months. All good re useable condition as...
As per Dellmassive's post, what engine have you got in your Shuttle?
The EGR is supposed to recycle (some of the) exhaust gases before they go through the DPF. I also believe that it has a job in controlling temperature of the gas and prompting DPF regen. A lot of people will tell you to have...
Hi,
Just checked online and my T6 seems to be eligible for the All-in. The main reason I'm interested is the P0401 EGR flow insufficient DTC is present.
Can I start paying for All-in, wait the one month cooling off period and then get it sorted under the warranty?
Thanks.....
There is no EGR light. There is no link between the DMF and EGR. A blocked EGR won’t create any noise.
For a diagnosis the starting point is to read any fault codes, have a Search with ‘Carista’
VW Preston said nothing, they don't care as the is no warranty now. Had the egr delete done when a fault light came up saying egr low flow. It was done at 120k by Chris @Dav-Tec, it's just a remap but with no extra power just the egr written out. The new @Dav-tec van map is so much smoother...
...system errors), which did not clear after a long drive down the motorway, I read the error code with my Carista EVO and it showed a P24A8 code "EGR Cooler Coolant Pump Performance/Stuck Off"
I have cleared the code and after a short drive it has not re-appeared.
I spoke to the local VW garage...
