P040100. Staus: Intermittent
I have checked the egrpipes as best I can for leaks, no smell, nothing obvious.
Am I right in thinking this could be the valve not opening sufficiently?
If physically blocking/blanking the EGR is a 'good' thing, then why would an insufficiently low flow of egr...
Fumes in cab wasnt great either
: EGR flexi-pipe: Exhaust Fumes In Cab, Hissing From Engine Bay.
that was the EGR flex pipe at the rear of the engine.
a git to get off, but all covered under warranty . .
.
...long time.
For those that have had it done has the DPF been fine after getting the EGR mapped out?
It occurs to me that after blanking the EGRpipes and running it like that for a few years it would be really stupid to then unblank the EGR again as the cooler will probably be a corroded mess...
...at about 17% so that seems good and regen occurs at the usual 30g or so level then works it’s way down to lower than 6g then stops….calculated stays low and measured jumps up then regens again within a few minutes/ miles!
This is about 700 miles after a new turbo and egrpipe as previously...
During "normal" running only engine braking turns off the recirculation (on hot engine) - all other times recirculating.
An example plot here:

During active DPF regeneration the EGR won't recirculate...
Just up date guys
Replaced the intake manifold cleaned out to inlet ports of carbon as best as possible and Egrpipe checked valves using bore scope could see no damage. Built it all back up road test over 100 kms went well full power no faults. Time will tell if there’s anything else causing...
So... latest and hopefully last update for a while
Wife took the van in, headed off to softplay with our 2- year old and told the guy :
"I don't want a call to say 'you've cleared the code, she's good to go'- we are taking this van to France in a month I want it fixed...this van is our...
So I’ve had my T6 into a well known VAG Tuners in Glasgow for some diagnostic testing on why I was intermittently having the glow plug light up and flashing. The issue appears to be the EGR valve needs either replacing with associated pipes cleaned out too or to have the EGR deleted and coded...

...owned it since new, had the dreaded egr valve replaced on it and ever since then it has had an acidic smell when getting in the van the next day , its not to noticeable when driving but very bad when left over night and getting in the next day , any thoughts ? cracked egrpipe ? please help...
If you get it done make sure they replace the front egrpipe, it’s a new design - there’s a post on here somewhere with good pictures showing the difference between the old one and the new one
...but can say that our Volvo had a smell of fumes for months (I didn't drive it regularly so didn't know) that was due to a cracked or split EGRpipe. The garage replaced the pipe and didn't say anything at all about possible consequential damage - except to my wallet. A few months on and it...
When I lived in Oz I had a module that was easily installed and removed for MOT that did the same job as an EGR blanking plate. It was brilliant. Might see if they do one for the Transporter.
First dibs for forum members for the following items before I list them on eBay
1. 04L145749H charge air cooler. Replaced as precaution when turbo renewed.
2. 04L131512T EGR valve and cooler.
3. 03N145704 Biturbo and exhaust manifold. Large turbo ok. Small turbo shaft snapped. Can supply...
I totally agree not all garages. I like it but when you’re spending good money to buy a premium van, you at least expect a premium service like you received.
hello all,
I tried searching here and google for an answer but nothing came up...
How do the VW dealers clean the EGR? I assume they disconnect the EGRpipes and then connect a machine that runs a cleaning fluid through the EGR, or am i expecting too much ?
